Tweets from a #Tamil so-called movie reviewer about #Bengaluru and #Karnataka is a classic case of a person stopping low to an unimaginable level for engagement farming. There is zero understanding of ground reality but when you want to spread hate, you don't bother about it

A nostalgic read for #Kannada movie lover. #Deva, who left a great legacy in Tamil, composed the songs of #Amruthavarshini. SPB, who sung over 40k songs, had only 8-10 casettes in his car & this movie's was one of them. BTW, a sequel is on cards. Which is your favourite song?

One so-called pan-Indian #Kannada movies comes with a sub-standard poster & the other one which was supposed to reveal a title/first look video has postponed it. Perhaps it's high time makers understand that it's better they put in the efforts & then fix a date for the update

#Jailer2: For the first time perhaps, a #Rajinikanth film's action is directed by a #Karnataka artiste. The super-talented @ChethanDsouza talks to me about getting the big project, being humbled by the superstar & doing set pieces in #Nelson style Watch: youtube.com/watch?v=QQc5t5zk…

#PremadaOorali: A #Kannada movie is one of the biggest hits of 2026. It has breathed life into B & C centres, & dominated 'Tamil' & 'Telugu' centres in #Bengaluru. It has also left #KFI asking: should directors go back to telling simple stories? Report: thehindu.com/entertainment/m…

After the success of #PremadaOorali, #RangayanaRaghu sir deserves a great opening for #DeviMahathme, which releases on Dec 4. As director @NagarajSomayji says, anybody who adds value to the script is a star! After 'Agnyathavasi' & 'Shakhahaari', he is a star in his own right

Beautiful tribute by Shyam Prasad sir. #JeffreyArcher was a big part of our childhood
This novel by #JeffreyArcher is the reason I became a journalist. Until I finished my degree, I had managed to avoid every bad habit except reading. Textbooks were unavoidable, of course, but I spent as little time with them as I could. Instead, I got library cards at three different libraries and set myself the rather ambitious task of reading every book on their shelves. Inspired by John Grisham’s novels, I joined LLB, convinced that becoming a lawyer would guarantee me a life of adventure. He was the first novelist to send my life in the wrong direction. By then, I had read almost every novel Jeffrey Archer had written. Almost. There was one exception. I finished "The Fourth Estate" in a couple of days. By the time I closed the book, my career plans had changed once again. The novel was loosely based on the lives of Robert Maxwell and Rupert Murdoch, two men who went on to build enormous media empires. One inherits a newspaper at the age of twenty-two after his father dies. The other, at the same age, acquires a failing printing press for just one dollar and uses it to launch a newspaper. In time, both build media empires spanning newspapers, television channels and much else across the world. I was twenty-two myself. And suddenly, becoming a newspaper owner seemed considerably more exciting than becoming a lawyer. So I went straight to the taluk office and bought the forms required to start a newspaper from a stall run by one "Junde Muniyappa". The ₹65 they cost was paid by my friend Nani, who happened to be with me. I somehow assembled all the documents required, filled in the application and sent it off to Delhi. A month later, a reply arrived from the Registrar of Newspapers for India. I was given three months to start a newspaper under the name "The Student Planet" and send copies for registration. Three months later, a newspaper appeared bearing the imprint: Editor, Printer, Publisher, Owner: S Shyam Prasad There was, naturally, one small complication. Since I was the editor, printer, publisher and owner, I also had to be the reporter. The novelist who gave my life that unexpected direction, Jeffrey Archer, has today, at the age of 86, brought his remarkable journey as a writer to an end. I owe him a debt I can never repay. 🙏🙏🙏

Something is rampant in #Kannada cinema today: Paid Reviews. Big films get orchestrated Tweets & videos & praises range from "move of the year" to "#KFI goes to next level". But films run only when they resonate with people. #PremadaOorali is the best example My report:

We take your feedback very seriously! ❤️ Over the past few weeks, we listened to reviews and constructive complaints about #Videothefilm. To make the experience even better, we have re-edited a few sequences and shuffled the main reveal to the pre-climax for OTT @mysorevivekmv
Morning debate & #Kannada film lovers are most welcome to join. Where would you slot #VideoTheFilm in the list of horror dramas in #Sandalwood? Why were the reactions a bit divided? I am sure @srinidhi_Blore didn't tell he made a really interesting slasher film My take below:

Popular take, maybe. #Suri is the only one in #Kannada who shows the everyday lives & aspirations of ordinary people against a crime backdrop. You know their fate, but are hopeful for them. #DuniyaVijay's films focus on the genre's excessive violence & melodrama #CityLights
#CityLights: #DuniyaVijay represents people often ignored in mainstream #Kannada cinema. But he resorts to emotional manipulation & leans on unbearable violence to draw sympathy towards characters. The world building is fine, but writing lacks nuance. This his weakest film

I spoke to #ManojKumar, director of #PremadaOorali, in 2021. His first film 'Akshi' was inspired by #DrRajkumar & speaks about eye donation. He waited 6 years to make it & lacked funds to promote. After winning a #NationalAward for that, seeing this film's success feels great

Haven't seen #TheParadise (Just missu!), but goodness me! What are those reactions? I don't see anything positive about it online. THE BIG QUESTION IS: Do makers really not realise they are doing something so unwatchable? Or is it the problem of ideas not translating well?

A curious question. Right from 'Magadheera' days (at least in my memory), there is some sort of craze among #Kannadigas for #Telugu mass films. What excites them about such movies & does that formula work in #Kannada? Or is this craze only limited to social media? #TheParadise

#Indian sports journalism has lost Naveen Peter today. So many of us are finding it hard to process the news. Peter was one of my earliest colleagues at Deccan Herald. A guy who has insanely mad about sports & wrote several special stories on #Bengaluru football. Forever cheerful

Another Friday, another #Kannada film. This time it's #HegganaMuddu with @PoornaMysore back on screen. Like director Avinash Balekkala says, there is something pleasant about Poorna. Toiling hard for a decade, he has been earnest so far Full video: youtube.com/watch?v=4ozE8ROn…
