Family-owned pharmacies shouldn't be driven out of business by middlemen.
The Pharmacists Fight Back Act is one step closer to becoming law after passing out of the House Oversight Committee. We're fighting to rein in PBM abuses and ensure independent pharmacists can compete on a level playing field.
#RepBradFinstad @rRepAngieCraig @KellyMorrisonMN @IlhanMN @GOPMajorityWhip @RepFischbach @RepPeteStauber please urge your colleagues on the House Oversight Committee to vote YES❣️ on this crucial bill!
Thx to @bettymccollum04 for already cosponsoring this legislation 🙏

INSANE! CVS pharmacy employee shares behind the scenes look at how a drug that costs less than $4 to fill ends up costing an insured patient $97! 😮
Why are insured patients paying 24 times more? What a scam!
Although this is progress to reform PBM abuses, this will not immediately provide relief to dying pharmacies. Support HR6609 and HR6610 #pharmacistsfightback @RepAuchincloss @RepHarshbarger @RepJamesComer @FrankPallone @RepDianaDeGette
Thank you, Rep Carter!
You faced patients at the pharmacy counter for many years, and fought hard for this PBM reform. 🎉
There is more to do.
I was delighted to meet you in December in support of the Pharmacists Fight Back Act, alongside @RepJamesComer @RepAuchincloss @RepHarshbarger @RepRashida @SanfordBishop
Let’s keep pushing for patients!
This is why we need federal PBM reform! Please support #pharmacistsfightback by contacting your congressperson to cosponsor HR6609 and HR6610. Thank you @RepAuchincloss @RepHarshbarger and @RepJamesComer for leading the way!

@DutchRojas, @CassandraTesla is one hell of an advocate and mom.
She was working in healthcare and very confused when her daughter Kara was diagnosed with MS but was denied access ( by the PBM/insurer) to the medication prescribed by her daughter’s world class neurologist. After fighting for nine months during which Kara’s health declined, she got a final denial. Then Kara got pregnant and she’s due for delivery next month. But of course she is less healthy because some suit made the decision to deny.
Cassandra made the trip to Washington DC on December 11 and stood next to me as I told her story and asked for the Pharmacist fight back act to pass. @RepBuddyCarter called it the most muscular of the PBM reforms.
That’s Cassandra next to me with a photo f beautiful Kara. @RepAuchincloss and @JamesComer are behind me as are some kick-butt independent pharmacy advocates.

I’m glad to see you going into the 1992 Era. And keep in mind
1987 Nancy Pelosi started in politics.
1992 Congress made FDA PDUFAs happen
We do need to look at the FDA for the root cause and the Fudicuary Responsibility for our healthcare crisis today
when The 1992 Prescription Drug User Fee Act(PDUFA) was started.
Being that it is aimed to speed drug approvals by having drug companies pay fees, but problems emerged, including potential safety issues from faster reviews (leading to more black-box warnings/withdrawals), increased industry influence on FDA policy due to budget dependence, and underfunding of post-market safety surveillance, creating a focus on pre-market speed over long-term safety, despite PDUFA being vital for FDA's budget.
Now the FDA is financially dependent on industry user fees (over 50% of drug budget), giving companies leverage in negotiations and potentially biasing decisions away from unfavorable policies.
I learned this while searching for the answers to MS DMT access for my daughter with a new MS diagnosis and not able to get access to her Treatment.
We have a sickne$$ in the FDA with big pharmaceutical created by lawmakers who profited off of all of us right in-front of our eyes

Respectfully, congressman, there is nothing fiscally responsible for hardworking Americans in extending subsidies that flow directly to insurers.
In addition, the 3 year extension sets up another fight with a likely shutdown in 2028, just in time for presidential elections.
That is NOT turning down the temperature.
Instead the off ramp offered in the bill that passed yesterday by allowing Americans to band together in an association for the simple reason that they are paying more and getting less and they are sick of doing so, gives them an off ramp from expensive plans.
In addition there are favorable PBM reforms in the bill.
🇺🇸 still needs more.
In addition to passing the BIPARTISAN Pharmacists Fight Back Act ( info in comments), the two paragraphs below describe what @Free2CareHC and many other physician and patient groups would like to see.
Most especially RADICAL transparency.
Grateful to @IndyBucksCo for publishing the piece I wrote that kicked off a healthcare cost series.
I will keep writing and exposing because an informed electorate, armed with the ability to build a true free market landscape is the best defense against our predatory healthcare system.
And I’m happy to meet or discuss with you at any time .
Merry Christmas and Happy birthday a day late.

ACA Obamacare:
The unaffordable careless act.
1. Taxpayer bail outs for insurance
2. Insurance kickbacks to politicians
3. High premiums, high deductibles, and high co-pays
4. Narrow network nonsense
5. Care and med denials
6. Payment denials
7. Prior authorization denials
8. Precertification denials
9. No insurance competition
10. No independent physicians and patients lose again!
In the next few days, Georgia will lose two more independent pharmacies: Harlem Pharmacy and Clayton Pharmacy. @RepRickAllen and @Rep_Clyde these are your districts. Have you cosponsored HR6609 and HR6610? @RepJamesComer #PharmacistsFightBack

Its been a rough year and thankful for my very intelligent friend & suppoterer who was able to help understand better and help me get to this point in this journey Kerry Helland
She has been dealing with victimization of the healthcare system for years and offered deep value of insights that have been EPIC!
She is a true hero who I hope will be coming with me to the next Steps of the fight and future projects along with Lynn whom is a powerhouse for advocating for Pain Management Victims, MS Victims futures, and FDA corruption
