Quick @westcityec V2 thoughts: -V2's focus on shape & size rather than material (1 speedy PTFE formula shared by all 3 skates) -Not necessarily a replacement or upgrade to your current favorite West Lab skates. Uses more Premium PTFE, that combined with the new foam doesn't feel exactly like any current model. -3 V2 Models -Medium Flat (6.5mm Wide, 0.8mm Thick) -Medium Spherical (6.0mm Wide, 1.0mm Thick) -Small Spherical (5.0mm Wide, 1.0mm Thick) -The thickness of the spherical variants isn't ideal but because the contact point starts so small they actually wear pretty quickly to a more reasonable thickness. Mine were at 0.85mm after about 2 days of use. That's without any squish of the foam. -I would consider these glass only skates because of the shapes. Even the Medium flat shape has a substantial sharp lip on the edge which easily digs into even firm cloth pads. (Included a picture so you can see what I mean.) -On glass these skates are really fast. Probably the fastest skates I've personally used. Not a dry chalky glide either, it's just a very slippery glide. -In line with West Labs own testing: Out of the box the Medium Flat skates do indeed feel the fastest to me. I actually talked to them about this and we both agree that most likely with weight (Mouse + hand) the pressure on a single point causes the friction to increase. -My favorite are the Medium Spherical skates. The spherical shape allows you to get really great textural feedback but still with some smoothness due to the foam and size. -The Medium Flat variant is the smoothest out of the bunch and like I said earlier at least start out as the fastest. Would be my recommendation if you are looking for a fast but also smooth skate. -The Small Spherical are the most textured out of the bunch. Too textured for me on pads that are also textured. I do quite like them on smoother pads though, specifically the Superglide3 & SP005. -Overall I think they are an upgrade in quality from the V1 Lineup. Offer an even faster glide than West Lab Oranges although not as smooth. The Medium Spherical's in particular I think would be a top recommendation for anyone looking for a satisfyingly textured feel.
