Hundreds of students at Detroit School of Arts and Lewis Cass Technical High School walked out of classes and marched to downtown's Little Caesars Arena, demanding answers for the family of Nolan Wells.
Wells was an 18-year-old college football player who was found dead off the Mississippi coast after a July Fourth boat trip with his friends.
A grand jury declined to bring charges in the case in September, finding Wells’s death consistent with drowning. His family has rejected that ruling, as the state autopsy revealed bruising on the back of Wells’s head and did not show water in his lungs or stomach.
Calls for a federal investigation into Wells's death have spread across the US, from walkouts at HBCUs and other Southern campuses to mass rallies in Atlanta and New York.

Former Miss Switzerland Beatrice Keul has accused Donald Trump of raping her at New York’s Plaza Hotel in November 1993.
Keul alleges Trump grabbed her from behind, ripped off her dress and raped her, leaving bruises all over her body. She described the alleged attack to the House Judiciary Committee as “brutal.”
She also alleges Trump pressured her to stay silent by promising to help her obtain a US visa and gain admission to NYU. She claims Jeffrey Epstein made similar promises and invited her to Mar-a-Lago.

Concerned residents packed the Utah County Planning Commission meeting on Tuesday after it unanimously approved a widely unpopular data center ordinance without allowing public comment.
Police quickly moved on concerned residents – including swarming one young woman, dragging her out of the room, and slamming her onto the ground. The woman was left with a concussion and a bruised and swollen jaw. She spent the night in the ER after being released from jail.
An emergency rally was called for Wednesday in response to the brutality. Community members are demanding the termination, arrest, and prosecution of the offending officer – identified as Phil Crawford.

A document unveiled in a court case appears to show Amazon using AI to track workers and rank how likely they are to form unions.
The document has been released as part of court proceedings between Amazon and Canadian union Unifor.
It shows Amazon using an AI tool dubbed "Atlas" to give warehouses a risk score of between 100 and 900 for union activity, with a lower score meaning it believes workers are more likely to unionize. A higher score is “better” for leaders at the company, the document says.
