As the first Indian American woman to serve in Congress, Diwali has always been a very special holiday for me. It’s a moment to celebrate light over darkness, and love over hate. And at a moment where anti-Indian hate is on the rise and racist rhetoric is coming from the highest levels of government, we need this reminder more than ever.
This Diwali, let’s light our diyas for light to come into our homes and our country. Embrace each other, reject hate and division, surround yourselves with joy, and have a bright and meaningful festival of lights. Happy Diwali!

This season holds special meaning for me as Georgia's first Sikh and Indian American state legislator.
Bandi Chhor Divas reminds us that Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji would not accept his own freedom unless the 52 kings imprisoned with him were freed too. That idea guides how I want to serve: nobody gets left behind.
To my neighbors celebrating Diwali and Tihar: may your homes be full of light, family, and good food. Georgia is stronger because of the traditions you bring here. 🪔✨

Look how excited the SNL crowd is to see Talarico. They won’t stop cheering!
Conservatism is so demoralizing because it’s about making educated and smart people in your country sad. Conservatives should reflect on why that is.

.@realDonaldTrump after years of a submissive, invertebrate and constitutionally illiterate Republican Congress, it’s obvious you need a few reminders:
1. Members of Congress have a constitutional right and duty to conduct oversight of the Executive Branch. This is not a crime.
2. Democrats do not idly threaten people with impeachment nor do we take this constitutional power lightly. We impeach federal officials who commit high crimes and misdemeanors when we consider it the most effective constitutional tool to deal with a serious and continuing danger to the Republic and the people.
3. It is not a crime for someone to exercise their First Amendment rights to call for impeachment of a federal official. For all of your incessant and compulsive talk about the Democrats’ alleged obsessive focus on impeachment, the impeachment resolution pending in the House next week comes from a constitutionally-minded member of the Republican Party. And it is Rep. Thomas Massie’s absolute free speech right, and his Speech or Debate clause right to boot, to call for impeachment and trial of Secretary Pete Hegseth for his alleged war crimes and many other constitutional violations.
4. Unlike President Trump, Democrats defend the political free speech rights of all Americans and the right of all Americans to freely associate with the political party of their choice.
5. You have repeatedly demanded, and ordered, throughout your second term the criminal prosecution and imprisonment of American citizens whose political speech and activities you disfavor. You and your Attorney Generals have been humiliated when your handpicked political prosecutions have been rejected by grand juries and judges.
6. The best way for any president to avoid impeachment, conviction, removal and disqualification is to enforce the law, respect the law and not commit felonies and high crimes and misdemeanors.
Thank you for your attention, Sir!
Congress has the power to conduct traditional — even aggressive — oversight and threaten impeachment. Trump is ordering the Justice Department to criminally probe lawmakers for doing. truthsocial.com/@realDonaldT…

Happy Diwali, everyone! 🪔
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to this incredible community and to everyone who has stood alongside me, supported me, and offered words of encouragement over these past several weeks. I am grateful for the trust and encouragement so many of you have shown me. I will continue standing up for this community and advocating for each and every one of you in every way I possibly can. Your support has only strengthened my determination to keep doing so.
Wishing you all a beautiful and blessed Diwali!

One of my favorite Blue flips was just called yesterday. Brad Chambers defeated Pennsylvania State House Rep Brett Miller by 40 votes. That's right; a young man with dreadlocks won in rural Lancaster County. Amazing.

Early on in his campaign, @scott_colom wanted to tell stories about people in Mississippi, especially farmers like Michael.
This is one of my favorite ads we did — @RyanSayles_ shot it on the ground and with no real budget for a crew, we had @Gerard_Hen holding the boom mic.
Stories like Michael’s are becoming far too common for our farmers. Mississippi farmers are hurting, and we need a Senator who will stand up for them and demand more. Mississippi Farmers Matters!

At a tailgate in Ann Arbor, senator-elect Abdul El-Sayed tells @detroitnews that Mike Rogers hasn’t called him to concede.

This weekend is Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights.
Rooted in celebrations of the harvest season, it is tradition to have lamps illuminating homes and communal spaces, while parades and other festivities bring together families and communities.
Happy Diwali!

NEVER AGAIN MEANS EVERYONE
I believe in boycotts when there is a legitimate cause, and I support the right to peacefully advocate for Palestinian rights. But targeting businesses because their owners are Jewish crosses a line for me.
This is personal for me. My wife is Jewish. Much of her mother’s family grew up in Philly. My niece Sara went to Drexel. I am sure we have purchased items from some of the targeted shops.
On the eve of the 88th anniversary of Kristallnacht, I worry about intimidation and violence.
This is part of a much larger issue of rising antisemitism that we cannot ignore and must confront. We can stand up for Palestinians while protecting Jewish communities. Both matter.

"It's free speech!" Sure. Nobody's arresting you.
But the First Amendment protects you from government prosecution, not from criticism. When you organize a ride to target Jewish-owned businesses, the rest of us get to call it what it is: Jew hate.
That's free speech, too. #gapol

DEMOCRATS WIN SENATE POPULAR VOTE ACROSS FORMER CONFEDERATE STATES
Democrats won the combined Senate popular vote across ten former Confederate states, securing 20,782,908 votes (53.74%) to Republicans' 17,888,197 (46.26%)—a margin of nearly 2.9 million votes.
The result is a major victory for Democrats in a region Republicans have dominated for decades. High Black voter turnout helped fuel the result, carrying particular historical significance in states where Black Americans were once denied the right to vote.
Democrats broke decades-long losing streaks in Texas and South Carolina. James Talarico became the first Democrat elected to the U.S. Senate from Texas since Lloyd Bentsen in 1988, while Annie Andrews delivered South Carolina's first Democratic Senate victory since 1998.
