Respect to every sport.
Football requires incredible power and speed. 🏈
Basketball requires ridiculous length, coordination and agility. 🏀
Hockey requires balance, toughness and explosiveness. 🏒
Golf requires elite rotational control. ⛳️
But here’s a hill I’ll die on:
Hitting a baseball might be the hardest athletic skill in sports to FAKE.
You can be one of the greatest athletes on earth.
Now stand 60 feet, 6 inches away from a Major League pitcher throwing 98 MPH with late life…
While knowing an 88 MPH slider might disappear off the same tunnel.
Your athleticism alone isn't saving you.
You can't out-run it.
You can't out-jump it.
You can't overpower it.
You have fractions of a second to recognize pitch, velocity, location and movement...decide whether to swing
..and then put a round bat on a round ball.
And here's my favorite part:
Fail 7 out of 10 times and you might be one of the best hitters on earth.
Reaction time.
Vision.
Pitch recognition.
Hand-eye coordination.
Body control.
Rotational explosiveness.
Every sport produces unbelievable athletes.
But stepping into a Big League batter's box?
You can't fake that.
Baseball is different. 🔨⚾️

Why do Multi-Sport Athletes WIN?
- They have fewer injuries
- They play with greater poise
- They are more well-balanced
- They are more mentally tough
- They have a team-first mindset
- They have improved athleticism
- They have greater leadership potential

The best sports parents might be the quietest ones in the stands.
No drama.
No gossip.
No blaming refs.
No ripping coaches.
No constant complaining.
Just grateful for the chance to watch their kid compete.
This fall, bring less noise and more perspective.

The amount of travel coaches talking to hitters while they’re in the box is unbelievable. They have enough to think about without you coaching them between every pitch.
Sometimes you just need to let them hit.

A great reminder in sports and life; I can do more of this for sure.
During one of the worst losing streaks of my career, our team president walked into my office.
Keli McGregor. One of the best men I've ever known.
He could have come to vent. To question my decisions. To ask hard questions.
Instead, he said: "Cut to the chase, Clint. What's next?"
I looked him in the eye and gave him two words: "Shower well."
The Colorado Rockies were struggling badly that year.
Pregame preparation was solid. Scout meetings, early work, attention to detail. All of it was there.
But at game time, the tires were flat.
I told Keli: the game did everything it could to us today. We just couldn't meet its demands.
Now it was time to reset.
"Shower well" means exactly this:
• Watch the frustration circle down the drain
• Shampoo, rinse, repeat and get the grime of today completely off your mind
• Walk out clean, go home, and actually rest
Leave it at the ballpark. The game is over. There's nothing left to solve tonight.
Keli nodded. Asked if he could share it with the whole organization.
I said sure. And then it hit me. This isn't just for baseball.
Bad day at the office. Grumpy boss. Missed deadline. Traffic on the way home.
You can carry all of that through your front door.
Or you can shower well.
I've never seen a single problem get better because someone dragged it home with them.
The reset is a discipline. Same as preparation. Same as showing up.
Either we win. Or we learn.
The only real loss? When you don't take a single thing out of a hard day.
So tonight, whatever kind of day it was, shower well.
Tomorrow is a new at-bat.
