Together, @HjalmarNilsonne and @eldsjal co-founded @Neko, a $7B startup that calls itself "the most valuable hour you can spend on your health."
After years operating in Europe, Neko recently launched in NYC, where it's quickly built a waitlist of 50,000 people, and started work on 3 more locations. Miami, San Francisco and Washington, D.C. are next.
“People sometimes think that there’s some machine, and you go in, and you get a kind of paper receipt telling you if you’re gonna die or not,” Hjalmar tells me. “In reality, it’s the exact opposite.”

Hands down Neko health best experience I’ve EVER had in healthcare.
First off I was excited to go to for the last two weeks.
Second, the experience lived up to the hype.
Third, I bought another scan for a year out.
Fourth, Im happy to know so much insight about my body (53 blood markers, kidney health, liver health, skin health and more)and what I can do to continue to optimize my health.

Just 2 weeks after launching @Neko in the US, our NYC waitlist has doubled – with 50K people now in line for a scan.
The good news is that more capacity is on the way!
Today we're announcing that location #2 in the city will open at Brookfield Place in Battery Park City in January.
Plus, we have 2 more NYC locations already under construction so that we can deliver even more scans next year.

Great first health scan experience at @Neko.
Comprehensive scan and biomarkers.
Staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating.
Appointment itself was super smooth - took roughly 30-40min or so and ended with a good walkthrough of ALL my results with a physician.
Straight out of a sci fi film.
Fortunately - all in good health 🙏 and look forward to my next one and the ones after that.

but in all seriousness, most people put off their annual checkup. after my scan yesterday morning, i can confidently say that this might be the one that you actually look forward to.
the whole thing takes ~1 hour and the part that i loved as someone with a million questions (at all times) was this: there's a screen up the entire time that shows you what's next and where you are in the appointment, so you always know what's coming and why it matters. there's no sitting alone in a flimsy paper robe wondering what's happening, or when you'll actually see the doctor. (also the butter yellow robe is very chic, which shouldn't matter but absolutely does)
they imaged my feet for longevity markers, checked visceral fat around my organs, took 6,000 photos of my skin (i apparently have 222 markings??), and did an EKG.
my favorite part was that they sent my blood to the lab while i was still there, and by the time i sat down with the doctor, all my bloodwork and scan results were ready. no waiting a week and wondering if something's wrong. you know everything before you walk out the door, then you get a personalized action plan in the app after (i opted into the AI transcription during the visit).
i'm about to start training for the tokyo marathon, so it was a good time to get a baseline (but honestly it's always a great time to check in on your health)!! so grateful for the @neko team for this awesome experience - if you're in NYC, i hope you can try it for yourself soon!!

Neko’s clinics feel more like a members’ club or spa than they do a doctor’s office.
That’s the point. For too long, we’ve accepted medical spaces as places to endure, with little attention given to how they make us feel while we’re in them.
Neko is in the medical business, but approaches the experience more like hospitality, designing around thousands of tiny details meant to make members feel calm, cared for, and almost unaware of the machinery around them.
Your shoes end up where you need them. Blood samples disappear into the wall. You rarely cross paths with anyone you don’t need to see.

The future of healthcare has arrived in New York City!
I made a video about @Neko last year at their first London location. On that day, I saw how AI can actually change the world for the better.
Neko replaces your annual physician appointment, but it also gives you a much more in depth look at your health, more meeting time with your doctor and only for $499.
Oh and 3 months after my appointment, I got a call that @Neko's data identified that a freckle on my back was of concern. I wound up having to get the freckle removed. My doctors had checked that same freckle every year and never suspected anything. It was the extremely comprehensive data that Neko has that detected it.

Neko Health is as good as advertised.
I got to be the 4th person to preview the new NYC location yesterday. The whole experience, from the moment you enter and head down the stairs, was dialed in. It felt like the future.
Beautiful combo of design, technology, and people. Got a bunch of scans, bloodwork, and blood pressure done in ~30 minutes and as soon as it was done, they took me into a room to explain the results, which were all ready that quickly because there’s a lab on site (I won’t spoil how the blood gets there, maybe the coolest part).
Luckily, I’m basically healthy but need to get my fat ass in shape.
It’s wild that it costs $499, and they’re going to keep squeezing more tests into that price. They were nice enough to give me this one on the house but I already paid for my next appointment in 12 months.
10/10 would recommend.

@Neko Health is now open in NYC.
CEO and co-founder @HNilsonne joined Lightwork this week to discuss Neko’s origin, business strategy, and growth model.
Hjalmar had avoided healthcare his entire life until he got a cold DM from Spotify co-founder @eldsjal. He was inspired when Daniel asked him, “What if we redid healthcare from scratch?”
Then, Hjalmar and the Neko Health team spent 4+ years in research and development. Neko Health’s hardware, software, and AI systems were built in-house to keep pricing accessible. Currently, the scans are priced at $499, but Hjalmar hopes that as technology improves, costs can be lowered to widen accessibility.
Their newest location in NYC will be the ninth, and the first in the US, following clinic openings in the UK and Sweden.
Congratulations to the entire Neko Health team on this huge milestone.
