Had no idea that you could run gists with npx! EpicReact.dev is already looking promising @kentcdodds gist.github.com/kentcdodds/b…

Can’t imagine the day when AI has direct access to modify databases and an angry AI decides to not only delete millions of records, but also convince other AI’s, like the one that manages data backups, to also go rogue
Watch as Sydney/Bing threatens me then deletes its message

Horrified for the apps that use voice for consent authorization
Just can not believe this from @elevenlabs - voice cloning is mad, and can’t wait to have a go at this for Bedtimestory Great find by @heyBarsee

This, from a studio head, is crunch culture defined. Of course nobody is “forced” to work insane hours. But imagine the reduced bonuses and lack of promotion opportunities if you don’t? “You do it because you love it.” Weaponized passion. This is why people burn out of gaming

You eventually hit the point in tech where tech just won’t solve your real problem. Process, culture, and consistency will end up fixing your problem over time
Sometimes all it takes is a light poke at an implementation to kick off a whole new wave of insights
Too much time is spent verifying if something is “just happening for me” when dealing with shared resources
Making hard things easy is a key sign of innovation, like devops in the mid 2010s, the process of managing infrastructure and deploying frequently was an arduous process. Docker, github actions, serverless… all made these painful pieces of work way more approachable and easy
When I was little I thought software engineering was hard because programming was hard. Now, the code is easy but it’s the people around the code that make software engineering hard🙃
Flexibility in letting the right people handle a task is key to a fast org. You may not currently be assigned to UAT bugs but if you are the domain expert in that buggy area you’ll likely fix it faster than anybody else
I wonder what percentage of “non engagers” makeup a given social media platform and if that correlates to public perception

Quality instruction exists everywhere, the frustrating part is figuring out how to signal high quality to the lowest common denominator
Seamless needs to be able to localize chain restaurants when reordering. I don’t care which chipotle I ordered from in the past, I just want my order to be remembered and to have it figure out which chipotle is closest to me and order from that one
You either respect or grossly detest any code that hasn’t been touched in 5 years but is still working
Diversity in management is critical to healthy career growth. Makes me wish there were cross-company rotational programs for fulltime employees. 6 months per company for 2 years for early career individuals
What's an early career trauma that has stayed with you? I'll go first: my first boss never gave me deadlines, and when I asked for them she just said "everything is ASAP".

Some benefits: increased exposure to day-day work, better understanding of leadership and career progression, and a greater feeling of agency when you choose a role after experiencing similar jobs across the industry
One of the hardest relationships to figure out is when to pull the breaks on a project that is failing. Pull too early? You risk feeling incompetent and social stigma. Pull too late? You risk upsetting more people and may fail to salvage the project entirely

And it’s worse when the project is with a team because each engineer has their own relationship with management, and you’ll need to align all of these people around the breaking decision, now social dominance also becomes a factor for tension

Something like frontends@ or backends@ in a #developers channel that can be customized locally to a channel or globally to a workspace
Really excited about startups that empower users with cloud shifting. Simpler devices running ever more powerful apps will increase access for all neverinstall.com/
