That’s my quarterback
Bear Bachmeier said out of high school that Notre Dame "disrespected" him and his family and he "definitely had an extra chip on my shoulder." Bachmeier said Monday he was recruited by Notre Dame and that he is Catholic.

Putting money or something of value at risk to bet on a particular outcome or event is an activity that has plagued mankind almost, I suppose, from the beginning of time. And time has not made it any more worthwhile or any less harmful. Unfortunately, in recent years, gambling has become incredibly pervasive. #GeneralConference

I got you, Paul. Yes, it’s a lot different.

I don't gamble, but is sports gambling really that much different than the stock market. I can know more about teams, their strengths and weaknesses then I can ever know about a company I might invest in.

Real men are accountable for their actions, acknowledge their mistakes, apologize, and try to set things right. I met some real men recently, members of my home ward I want to tell you about. Recently, my wife Ruth substituted as a teacher in a youth Sunday School class. The students were 12- and 13-year-old young men and young women. Some of the young men were acting like, well, 12- and 13-year-old young men. They were a bit casual and less than engaged than ideal in the lesson about Job. Ruth had given the students a handout with some scriptures to read. Of course, paper airplanes were made of the handouts (is anyone surprised?). Ruth who is an excellent and adaptable teacher collected the airplanes, continued with the lesson, and thought no more about it. On the following Thursday evening, we had a knock on our door. Three of the young men were on the porch. They handed Ruth a letter that read: Dear Sister Renlund, We want to apologize for our behavior in Sunday School. We meant no disrespect even though our actions said otherwise. We failed to meet our duty as Deacons and we are sorry. We have learned from our mistake and better learned what our Aaronic Priesthood duty is. We have made a bouquet of paper airplanes for you to show our appreciation for teaching our class and for helping us learn our duty better. Thank you for what you do for the Church. Love, The Deacons Quorum I am grateful for their example to me of being priesthood holders and real men.

Everyone’s dunking on him but I actually think this is awesome.
Sequoia partner Doug Leone reveals he got a root canal with no Novocaine to see if he was really a badass "I had to get a root canal. And I had to go to a meeting right after that. I told the dentist, drill without any Novocaine.” “My whole life, I wanted to see if I was a badass or not. Am I a fake badass that has this envelope nobody could tell, or am I really a badass on the inside?" "He drilled and I jumped. And I told the dentist, I won't move again. And I didn't move again. I used the trick of thinking what it must be like to go to war and lose an arm or two legs. That's pain with consequences. Mine was pain with no consequences." “It’s just nerve endings from there to my brain to my spine, f*ck it I’m not moving.” "I had to go home and change my shirt because I was a puddle of sweat. But I didn't move. And so I love fear. It does wonders for me."

Sounds like he picked the wrong startup
My friend worked at a startup for 3 years. Took a $20,000 pay cut for equity they promised would change his life. Wore the hoodie. Believed the mission. Worked every weekend without being asked. Company got acqui-hired last year. Founders walked away with $8,000,000 each. Employees got 90 days notice and a LinkedIn recommendation. The equity was worth $0. He’s 31. Starting over. Startups sell you a dream because dreams are cheaper than salaries.

I’ve done 20+ triathlons. I remind myself during painful moments that I’m having fun. I intentionally smile. I try to think about the finish line and how great it will feel. This has led to far better performances than thinking “this is terrible and is supposed to be terrible.”

We need a bit more shame. People used to avoid certain self-interested behaviors to avoid shame, private and public. Law and customs assumed this. Now, 38% of Stanford students claim to be disabled. 40% of young women (under 35) claim mental illness, and SSI disability payments have gone up 400% in a single generation. It isn't good for anyone, least of all people who are actually disabled, when everyone looks the other way as friends and family and peers con the system with a level of shamelessness no architect of our safety net ever imagined could be possible in America. When everyone is disabled, nobody is.

The best evidence that @NYCMayor Mamdani has not held a job is the fact that he is sitting on the wrong side of the desk. And listen to his words. On a day when we, and in particular, our leaders should be celebrating the 250 years of our nation’s history, he attacks us and what makes our country great. Mamdani and the Democratic Socialists are grave threats to our present and our future.
JUST IN: NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani used America’s 250th anniversary to sharply criticize the country, accusing the U.S. of allowing children to go hungry while billionaires and “oligarchs” gain more power. He said America’s wealth was built by working people with “calloused, dirt-streaked hands" while accusing the country of allowing the wealth built by workers to be concentrated in “the soft hands of a precious few.”

History's first trillionaire is a guy who catches rockets out of the sky with chopsticks and beams internet to every dead zone on the planet. Same guy ships cars that drive themselves, humanoid robots for the factory floor, brain chips that let paralyzed people move a cursor with pure thought, and an AI running on a supercomputer his team stood up in months instead of years. And the people crashing out about his net worth are doing it on the app he owns. The same app governments spent years trying to censor. You cannot legislate a rocket into orbit.

What? Win a football game televised on national TV against a ranked opponent?
If Marcus Freeman ever did this I would be ashamed.
