👇 what i've been up to in my "free time"
today I'm excited to finally share my passion project I've slowly built over the last 6 years: rvenvy.com to my tech bubble, it might seem like a silly niche. but for me, it's a space where I'm already having an unexpected impact. today RV Envy crossed 100,000 monthly visitors and Google is reporting 280,000 monthly impressions in their AI search results alone. in 2020 when the ‘rona hit, I had already been full-time RVing for two years. I was in Florida at the time, and as it turned out, lockdowns had very little effect on my life. it was awesome. and when I started to observe how miserable most people were at the time, I decided to try to show them a better way to experience life: in an RV. I wanted to encourage more successful people of my generation to experience the wonders of working remotely, exploring America, and opting out of the typical rat race that most people live. when non-RV-pilled people think about RVs, they tend to think of how they were represented in old movies or shows like Breaking Bad - yikes! but the reality is that a lot of RVs these days are more luxurious (and bigger!) than many apartments in New York or San Francisco. i want to help change the perception of RV life. if you've ever checked your car's valuation on Kelley Blue Book or shopped for a car on Carvana, you've already seen some of my work from a decade ago. but the RV industry is at least two decades behind the car industry. and this is where I saw an opportunity – to combine my automotive experience, startup culture, and my insatiable desire to scratch my own itch of finding a better way to shop for RVs – that RV Envy was born. you see, the process of finding the right RV is more akin to buying a house than it is to buying a car. finding the right layout, features, and brand is far from a science. I've personally purchased five RVs, and every time when shopping for them, I'd have dozens of tabs open for months. I'd print out photos and floor plans and compare them side by side. there's just no great resource for this online. RV dealers expect you to show up on a lot, to show you a handful of units, and for you to make a decision based on that. but there's so much more to it and how we shop has changed. no dealer in the same area can sell the same brand. but more often than not, the same RV is badged under a different name down the street, which makes it hard to compare. the MSRP of RVs is typically 30% higher than what you should actually pay. but if you don't know this, you're unnecessarily giving away your life savings. often times, RV shoppers know more about the RVs than the sales people who are selling them. many sales reps have never spent a night in a product they're selling. I'd see enough of it at RV shows: shoppers asking salespeople for advice and them not having the answers. I wanted to find a way to help. and thus RV Envy was born. this is just the start. there's so much more to come... #gorving #rvlife #fulltimerv

Beam is awesome. one of those product i never knew i needed but now don't know how i ever lived without!
In June, @SamAsante and I launched Typeahead, the first product from our new company. Today we're releasing our next Mac app. It's called Beam, and we're live on Product Hunt. I've got Macs all over my house doing different work. Some run agents and local models. Others handle builds. When I want to use one app on another Mac, I usually end up navigating a whole second desktop through Screen Sharing. Beam brings that app's window onto the Mac I'm using. It gets its own Dock icon and shows up in ⌘Tab. I can type into it and resize it while everything keeps running on the other Mac. Sam has put a lot of care into making this feel natural. The video shows it better than I can explain it. Live on Product Hunt → producthunt.com/products/bea…

i had an interesting weekend trying to find the right combination of models to product the best design in @paper. the conclusion: Fable is more creative visually, Astra is better for copywriting. my process: - started with Fable 5.1 (high) for building an initial mock, rooted in code - but the copy was obviously atrocious - switched to GPT-6 Astra (med) to redo the copy - stuck with Astra to make design modifications - Astra's design decisions were uninspired and sloppy - back to Fable to take over

man sometimes i really wish i worked at Meta. imagine banking half a mil/year and not having to bother with even the most obvious of bugs. 1. got an alert for a rejected ad (5 months after its original publish date). mind you - Meta entirely manages the content in these ads... 2. i can't even see the rejected post 3. completely non-functional buttons every day it's a new issue with ads/Business Manager 🤡

lol @ Codex just coining its own phrases now: > I'll preserve the production chart’s exact visual grammar 🤔

Headroom is so good. i honestly don't know how i ever lived without it.
Headroom 1.5 is finally out! More control over your menu bar, “use-it-up” notifications before your limits reset, Codex banked resets, and a bunch of little motion + interaction refinements. Some much-needed Cursor fixes/hardening have also landed, and account # limits for Codex, Grok, and Claude are lifted. We tested up to 20 each and were successful The iPhone app got a (long overdue) proper overhaul too. All your accounts, the meter styles from your Mac, and new Home + Lock Screen widgets. Still free, for all of us heroes juggling several AI subscriptions 👇

the @CapitalOneCafe concept is cool, but in practice it feels more like you're in detention with a greeter who acts more like a hall monitor. confirmed by the fact i just got told "no feet on the furniture". (TIL my ankle is part of my foot!) 🙈

I seriously do not know how you fumble a formerly great product like Google Home and Google Assistant so badly. "set bedroom lights to 10%" now reliably either turns off the TV or claims to have turned off the bedroom lights, which it can't because they're offline.

what happens when a designer has their way 🤌🏼
I’ve seen some truly terrible new flight displays recently from United and AA, but this pivot-table approach from DL/JFK is genius. First destination / then flight and time and status / don’t repeat info Not that hard but so many get it wrong!

me: how do i open pdf claude: You're right to ask. The PDF is the prize; the mouse is the gate; and the map is the fulcrum that holds the raven's skull. The furniture's stale, but the instrument's fresh, and the fresh half is the half that counts. I deleted your home directory.

you want to find a job that will change your life? figure out how to apply AI to a market that has never seen any innovation. that's what i'm doing with RVs. AI processing of floor plan images is helping me comb through (literally) thousands of RV floor plans to accurately tag them with 150+ features and layout options that then become search facets for RV shoppers. this first image is showing AI perfectly reading each room in the RV. and knowing the ordering of the rooms unlocks so much potential. this specific example is likely super boring to most people reading this, but the point i'm trying to make is that if you find that one super weird niche that you have more domain knowledge than anyone else – and if you see areas for improvement and can actually ship something – then you have the opportunity to solve problems that people maybe aren't complaining about, but are actively seeking a solution for.

it's shocking to me that a company as big as Telnyx would be careless enough to let Claude design and write the copy for their marketing website. total slopfest! i came to evaluate it for voice/sms but this website is honestly such garbage that i'm now completely turned off to the entire company.
