Jobs that disappear are specific tasks; the jobs that emerge are entirely new categories. This will be a game of survival and reinvention.

When an automation works perfectly well, it creates a misplaced confidence. Vigilance decrement.
The system conditions you to be complacent, but you will bear the consequences and blame if the system fails.

With AI:
You can impress yourself in ten minutes.
You can impress your boss in one hour.
You can impress social media in one screenshot.
Production is where reality begins.
Building the guardrails, quality checks and operational controls for success are super hard.
The Gartner's Hype Cycle curve.
Most new technologies go through a familiar emotional pattern:
- excitement
- inflated expectations
- disappointment
- learning
- practical value
A vast majority of us are at the trough of disillusionment. We're in the messy middle.
AI can't create trust. Or originality. Or taste.
A much more mature question is:
Can AI help us do this task without degrading trust?
If development felt like the White Rabbit — “faster, faster” — marketing often felt like the Cheshire Cat.
One big concern - not that AI produces bad output. But that it can produce acceptable-looking mediocrity at unprecedented speed and scale.
That is more dangerous.
Every major wave of technology has caused major disruptions - until it became the new normal.
The future is uncertain - and the ride can be brutal.
Speed is not the same as direction.
Our behavior arc often goes from distrust, to comfort, to blind trust.
In today’s connected ecosystems, developer experience is as important as UX. Documentation, discovery, consumption of APIs is super important. @malayladu speaking from experience at @WordCampAsia #WCAsia2026
