Dan Gavitt says that the field size of the NIT and WBIT will not change, but the NIT/WBIT committees will "in due time, take consideration" of the impact of having 8 fewer teams.

Wrote about eight things today: 1. NCAA Tournament expansion doesn't threaten the #NIT. 3. Dan Hurley might be on the Dabo Swinney path. 4. Transfer portal superteams aren't real. 7. The situation at Notre Dame's a disaster and we need to cut bait. thebarkingcrow.com/ncaa-tour…

NCAA Tournament Expansion Doesn’t Threaten the NIT, and Seven More Things - The Barking Crow

Dan Hurley might be Dabo Swinney, Dusty May's the superteam, Notre Dame's in a mess, and there's an NIT alum playing in the Masters.

Got some questions about this guy. He did appear in the #NIT. One minute in that overtime game against K-State in 2009.

The Masters’ most unlikely player. Brandon Holtz, a former Division I college basketball player, has taken a very unique path to Augusta National.

Obviously really concerning if this is true. Just my opinion, but should probably cancel tonight’s game until more facts come out.

Congratulations to PhilipFrank18, our 2026 NIT Bracket Challenge champion. You now have a very specific accomplishment to explain to your friends and family. (Jere2/Jere1/Jere3 all came from the same email. Sorry, Jere. We have rules.) Final standings: thebarkingcrow.com/2026-nit-…

People should lighten up on this. After all, it's an exhibition tournament.

It will never not be absurd to play the biggest three college basketball games of the season in a giant cavern.
