appreciate the commentary and perspectives 🙏
i think the core, valid criticism that i see being shared by prominent builders on the network are related to sustainability (not really the tech, which rob speaks about in this video, the tech is great)
after 8 years with no real growth on the network to speak of yet (majority is from retail), most of what rob speaks about is hypothetical (which i also hope to be true !)
they key answer needed is: a plan and timeline from hedera on how the network will become sustainable (revenue) with a public leaderboard to hold leadership accountable
until then, there is a lot of downward pressure on HBAR to pay for hundreds of staff + all of these initiatives. if promises are going to be made, holders deserve to know what they are getting into
i am optimistic for the ecosystem as well, but without a real transparent plan in place from Hedera, i have to reply on others providing their insights so we can connect the dots (including rob : )
a solid plan for Hedera, real transparency and a timeline with good KPIs is the solution, and it has to come from hedera. i do not want to see good folks leave
my 2 HBARs : )
Great interview, Brandon. Reminds me of some of the conversations we had within the Foundry.
From my perspective, having been building on Hedera since 2018, I think there's a fundamental failure on acquring, recognizing and retaining key leadership (outside of the founders) with real operational experience and deep industry credibility (and not just in financial services). People who've actually run businesses, where building a client base, generating revenue and remaining sustainable was part of their ride/die daily life.
It's not the same to be bequeathed a lot of money and a remit to spend, or be some type of financial/marketing/consulting staffer, and measure yourself by PR releases about partnering with xyz large firm. It's also not enough to get flown to numerous conferences around the world and do pay-for-play speaking slots.
Just look through the profile of the people who've been put into these critical positions over the last few years... see their performance, their genuine ingratiation of the Hedera ecosystem and the founders' values, and how many of them are still in the ecosystem...

HOW DO WE FIX HEDERA? 🚨
i asked this early @hedera employee #7 (helped build the network & governing council)
if he had a magic wand, what would he do?
this is @KenTheJr_v1’s answer

Microsoft's CEO wants tamper-proof evidence for every AI agent action.
The question every bank should now ask its AI vendor:
Who wrote that record, and can our auditor check it without taking your word?
nobody can answer that . We built Authority Trail so they can.

My experience working with THA, and some insights on how to fix things:
Note: I cannot talk for others. This is just my personal experience and opinions (please don't sue me!). These opinions relate primarily to the conduct of certain individuals, who I shall not name, and not necessarily the conduct of the organisation as a whole. But it does uncover where they messed up.
The story...
Anyway, I booked a meeting with the THA team to explore an investment/ route for funding Neuron. 3 of their team were booked onto the call. A senior representative, and 2 people who worked under him.
Myself and the 2 more junior staff arrived on time. The senior member of staff didn't turn up, so the 3 of us talked. The conversation was very upbeat and positive. They understood what we were trying to build, and appeared to want to help us.
About 20 minutes into the call, the senior representative joined, interrupted the conversation, without apologising for being late, and then asked a series of questions which, in my opinion, were incredibly insulting, and showed a lack of respect.
If I could encapsulate his tone in a short paragraph, this would be it:
"who the f**k are you? You are too small for me to give a s**t about you. Why are you wasting my time?"
Now obviously, he didn't say any of those words. But he may as well have. The 2 more junior members of staff had their eyes wide open in disbelief, and looked embarrassed.
My whole opinion of THA was formed in that short 5 minutes. Maybe he was a bad egg, but I think it actually uncovered a deeper routed problem that is clear and obvious to see in hindsight...
In my opinion, the senior person was only interested in big logos, £100M+ turnover companies, and treated startups like Neuron, like a dog turd that he had just accidentally stepped on.
If you look at the projects they have backed, my experience and interpretation seem to hold true.
A good example, and no animosity towards their team, but Sealcoin, owned by the multi-billion company Wisekey, were trying to build a PoC for a thing we had already built and was live on Hedera testnet. THA backed them, but didn't back us. Not sure how that is working out?
As I said in my previous post, I think that some of the foundations/ associations around Hedera only cared about big logos.
What they didn't understand was that it was projects like Neuron who were the ones actually bringing the big logos to Hedera. NATO, NATS, CAA, Tekever, ESA, Collin Aerospace, Thales etc.
Snarling down your nose at your "tiny" customers, because they were too small to care about, was a very poor strategic decision in my view.
Big logos will never use an L1 directly for 2 reasons:
1) They do not want to hold tokens on their balance sheet, or open themselves up to risk. They want to deal with a company who abstracts the token and risk away from them.
2) They aren't very good at innovating. Innovation teams within big corporations are not normally very innovative, funnily enough. They are good at spotting innovative projects though, and will work with them as customers.
This is where Hedera missed a trick. They should have been funding the innovative companies building on Hedera, and introducing the big logos to them to help drive usage of the network.
I think this cycle is the last chance for Hedera to get things right. If they learn how to master the above, I think the network has a bright future ✌️
Just my 2 cents x

Thanks Tim, we have managed to continue building, though it's been very tough. Web3 funds don't seem to want to invest in Hedera projects, and neither do Hashgraph VC (🤭). We now have traditional web2 VCs wanting to invest, so maybe it was meant to be!
But certainly, we would probably be much much further ahead, and maybe have 4 or 5 x 4DSKY style projects on mainnet, if we had managed to secure investment earlier. I'm not sure what we did wrong? There was a lot of money being invested, but it's not clear where it all went.
I think it would be a positive step for Hedera if all funding that has been awarded/ distributed to be put on the HGraph. No accusations or negativity. But just as a positive step for transparency. We cannot change the past, but we can learn from it for the future.

all of crypto is tanking rn with the "AI breaks cryptography" narratives
if i was in charge of hedera marketing i would take a phone into leemons office, get his realtime thoughts on the situation, edit it quick and post before lunch
i would also get EQTY Labs to post some content too and sustain a reactive content strategy
leemon and hedera have been talking about this as the "big crypto risk moment" for like 10 years so now is the time to take the opportunity
the entire AI newscycle is on X and it happens in minutes and hours (not weeks). one timely news driving piece of content can allow hedera to break away from the pack and own the narrative
others will do this

There is a particular sadness in watching a project discover, too late, that the garden it funded has been left unattended.
I said this years ago. Quietly at first, then less quietly, when the patterns of concentrated grant power, related-party structures, and thin oversight became hard to ignore.
The replies were consistent: toxic, FUD, not a team player. The warnings were treated as the problem rather than the risk.
So the conversation moved on, and the arrangements continued.
Hedera Hashgraph, LLC has now filed suit against The Hashgraph Association, related entities, and certain principals, alleging that tens of millions of dollars in grant funds—meant to cultivate the ecosystem—were diverted into a related-party venture fund without the required consent and oversight.
A separate action against Exponential Science entities raises parallel concerns over unspent or transferred grant capital.
These remain allegations. Yet the filings themselves confirm what vigilance, or its absence, already suggested.
Stewardship is not retrospective. When substantial resources are placed under contractual restrictions, the duty to watch, verify, and intervene does not begin after the money has moved or after the questions have already been labeled toxic.
Regular reporting, independent review, and timely consent are ordinary machinery. Their apparent absence allowed whatever occurred to occur.
The funds, once committed or transferred, are not waiting in a locked vault for a court order.
They are dispersed, invested, or restructured.
Litigation will not restore them.
It will consume years, capital, and attention.
Ecosystems do not pause for discovery schedules. Builders seek certainty; communities grow weary of unresolved questions about whether the resources intended for them were properly guarded.
While the lawyers argue over amendments and consent, momentum thins.
Trust, once frayed by the appearance of neglect or self-dealing, is not repaired by a judgment delivered long after the moment for prevention has passed.
I told you, many times. The reply was that saying so was the real damage.
Now the suits arrive as a late and expensive form of acknowledgment. Prevention was the only remedy that could have mattered.
In its absence, the legal process feels less like justice than like an epitaph written while the project is still formally alive.
The money is gone or unreachable.
The years required to “restore order” are years the ecosystem does not have.
What remains is the quiet recognition that warnings dismissed as toxicity were, in the end, just an earlier form of the same stewardship that never arrived.

BREAKING 🚨 THG, THA OFFICIAL RESPONSE TO HEDERA LAWSUIT IN NYC COURT
my opinion → these are cool "vanity metrics" (signed partnerships, certifications etc), but where is the actual, meaningful growth on the Hedera network that can be attributed to these organizations?
look at the 2yr network revenue chart
where is the real growth?
BREAKING 🚨 HEDERA SUES THA, THG, Hashgraph VC + LEADERSHIP
following up on my commentary regarding @HashgraphVC not investing in Hedera related projects... this bombshell drops
Hedera Hashgraph LLC has sued The Hashgraph Association, The Hashgraph Group, key leadership and Hashgraph Ventures in New York on Oct 4th (case no. 655628/2026)
they allege these groups improperly committed over $50M in grant funds (plus $2M from THG) to a fund controlled by THA leadership without required consent, amid undisclosed related-party conflicts
Hedera terminated the grant agreement on July 31st and seeks return of unspent funds via claims including unjust enrichment
This follows a similar prior suit by Hedera against Exponential Science over unspent grants
THA and THG say they "continue supporting the ecosystem" (which doesnt add up based on my discoveries related to Hashgraph VC in my video below)
this begs the question: who is the Hedera governing council giving money to and how much value is being extracted from hard working builders in the ecosystem
$HBAR holders will not be screwed over and i look forward to more details related to this from official sources
here's my clip from early september...

an unfortunate jab piece in Yahoo Finance about the Hedera + Nvidia headlines yesterday, leading to an $HBAR pump
“Council-level visibility in a fast-growing AI safety conversation is not the same as a confirmed Nvidia-Hedera partnership, and it is not proof that HBAR faces any new mandatory demand.”
the writer obviously missed the EQTY Labs connection, but the argument is fair: let’s see substance behind the hype
now is a solid time for @Hedera to hit back with some substance and share more color on what this all means for the ecosystem

this article rings more true now than ever
Hedera must present its thesis on the industry it operates in and how it plans to position itself
in the past years Hedera has drifted pretty far from the original vision, so it is time to get a proper vision update
most importantly, what are the REAL metrics that leadership will be held accountable to and what is the timeline for network sustainability?
competition is tougher than ever and the market is much different
without a proper 2027 thesis and vision, how can the community form a solid conviction?
HBAR will ride along with the market (bullish) but does Hedera have what it needs to ride on its own to success (bearish)
let’s get substance behind the hype
