CPTSD means you've had to survive so much for so long that your brain had to change just to keep you safe.
A narcissistic parent performs love in public. The child is the prop. Control and harm stay inside the house, where no one is watching. The image needs the child. The child does not need the image.
Narcissists can't handle accountability.
Try to sit one down and talk about how they treat people. They'll throw a tantrum, scream, blame you for everything, or bring up something you did 10 years ago to deflect.
If you're lucky, they'll just run away, because they can't stand the fact that someone they think is beneath them dared to confront them.
You're not dealing with a rational adult. You're dealing with a spoiled child in a grown body. Remember that and move accordingly.

A narcissist talks a lot at first, but keeps none of their promises.
They will sell you the future you have always prayed for, only to trap you in a nightmare you will spend years trying to heal from.
Many words. No word.
Not everyone's trauma makes them tough.
Some trauma makes people softer. More sensitive. More insecure. They cry quicker, get overwhelmed by small things.
The lie is that trauma always makes you stronger. It doesn't.
The real power is in admitting it hurt you, and choosing to grow from it anyway.

I have been battling insomnia lately, and the only cause is utter depression. How did I develop this?
The only woman who has been there for me since I was born is in need of help, and I feel so ashamed of myself that I'm incapable of rendering any. I am not here to pile up emotional sentiments. In fact, that has been the major reason I'm speaking up this late. I need help.
She has been diagnosed with appendicitis alongside some undisclosed symptoms for over 6 years now, and all that I know is that she sometimes falls unconscious to the ground, and with the help of passers-by pouring water on her, she regains consciousness after some minutes.
Despite her condition, she never stops working in the market as a porter - one who helps others carry their loads/luggage to survive. Whatever she earns from the hustle is what she has been using to cater for me and my siblings. She has been doing that for over 7 years, I swear on everything I want to become in life. I have evidence of everything.

Just two days ago, I called her. She didn't tell me she had been in bed for days, but I could tell from how she was sounding.
It keeps getting worse and it's draining me completely.
I remember a time when I was in school, preparing for my 200-level second semester exams. I got a call from a stranger informing me that my mom was completely down on the floor, unconscious - I nearly killed myself on the spot because I was already going through some personal issues and I received that sad news at the same time. There has been a lot, honestly.
A few weeks ago, I slid into a philanthropist's DM and briefly stated why I was there - though my situation is far more than what I told him. It took over two weeks before he viewed my messages, and only after I sent a follow-up. Eventually, I was completely turned down. I understand him quite well. Perhaps he thought I was fabricating a story that wasn't true. I told him I was ready to show him clear evidence to back up my claim, told him about my academic performance at the university - that I once had parallel As and was on a 4.86 CGPA, told him I am currently in 500-level and how I got to this level. I had the proof and was ready to show him, but he might have viewed me through the wrong lens, and it's completely understandable.
I felt brutally disposable and pathetically dejected afterward. I had to put the shame aside and bring my problem here.
Please, if you can help my mom, let me know and I will enter your DM with my proof. She's sick and tired, please.
Even if you cannot render financial help, you can however tag someone you know who can.
Thank you all.
this is completely heartbreaking 💔

Do you know the grief that comes with having two parents but losing the only one who is shouldering the responsibility of parenthood? 💔
The difference is clear.
A normal, healthy person cares when they hurt you. They own it, they apologize, and they try to do better because your feelings matter to them.
A narcissist does the exact opposite. When they hurt you, they flip it. Suddenly you're too sensitive, you're overreacting, you're the problem for even feeling hurt in the first place.
They will never say "I'm sorry I hurt you."
They will say "I'm sorry YOU feel that way."
It's not accountability, it's blame-shifting. And once you see it, you can never unsee it.
Reactive abuse is when they provoke you over and over until you finally react, and then they twist the narrative to make you look like the abuser. It's their favorite tactic.
Narcissists' audacity is pure comedy. 😂
They think your life falls apart after they leave, like you're crying over their pictures. You weren't the sun, the world kept spinning. 💀
We're fine, sleeping well, making money, some of us even better. 🤣
Funniest part? While they think they're missed, no one is even mentioning them. You weren't the main character, you were just an annoying ad we finally skipped. 👏
Am I the only one with CPTSD who was punished for crying as a child and now feels totally numb as an adult? I hate that I finally got what I used to pray for - to stop crying - and now I can't feel anything at all.
People who've been through narcissistic abuse are often labeled as mentally ill and put on psychiatric medication they don't even need, when what they're really dealing with is complex PTSD from long-term emotional abuse. They've been gaslighted, smeared, and made to question their own reality, then cut off from the people who should support them because everyone thinks they're the unstable one. The manipulation runs so deep that some lose themselves completely, feeling hopeless to the point of suicide. And society just calls it mental illness instead of recognizing the severe trauma and abuse behind it.
HOW CPTSD AFFECTS RELATIONSHIPS
CPTSD can affect how you see yourself, regulate emotions, and trust others.
You may crave closeness but fear getting hurt. You push people away, fear abandonment, overthink changes in behavior, or mistake distance for rejection.
When overwhelmed, you may withdraw, struggle with boundaries, or react to situations as if you’re still in danger.
These patterns often develop after prolonged trauma, especially when the people who should have made you feel safe were the ones who hurt you.
Healing takes time, patience, and often professional support. With consistent safety, you can gradually learn to trust yourself and others again.
Sometimes, you don’t fear love itself. You fear what love has taught you to expect.
Kids don't make up stories about being abused. It's the abusers who lie about what they did. Believe the child, protect the child, defend the child.
No one acts more single than a married narcissist, and no one feels more alone than the person married to one.
Congrats, that was the last narcissist you'll ever need. You've officially graduated in discernment.
