For someone who suggested peace could be more dangerous than war, it's no wonder that any talking is a no-go.
The man who sold Trump the idea of buying Greenland. And the man who got the first big contract under US-Ukraine minerals deal.
On this Israeli election day, I’d recommend reading this extraordinary @haaretzcom interview with billionaire Ronald Lauder, president of the World Jewish Congress and once one of Benjamin Netanyahu’s closest confidants.
One of Lauder’s most striking conclusions: “I realized at the end of the day that Israel really didn't want peace, but they wanted dominance.”
This is coming from someone who helped launch Netanyahu’s political career, introduced him to powerful figures in American politics and media, and secretly negotiated with Hafez al-Assad and Rafik Hariri on his behalf in the late 1990s.
In one of the interview’s biggest revelations, Lauder says Netanyahu agreed to a comprehensive peace deal with Syria and Lebanon, including withdrawal from the Golan Heights, but ultimately refused to sign it for political reasons.
“He chose politics over peace. He put his political future before the deal.”
Now 82, Lauder describes his profound disillusionment with Israel’s direction. After decades of supporting Israeli and Jewish institutions, he has sold his Tel Aviv apartment, given away his Be’er Sheva property, and says he has no intention of returning to Israel.
He warns that Netanyahu’s dependence on figures like Ben-Gvir and Smotrich is damaging Israel, alienating diaspora Jews and eroding support in Washington.
The interview is also full of fascinating details about Lauder’s role in Netanyahu’s political rise. The two became close friends in the 1980s, when Netanyahu was Israel’s ambassador to the UN, speaking almost daily at times.
Lauder says he introduced Netanyahu to speech coach Lilyan Wilder to improve his public speaking and, crucially, to Republican strategist Arthur Finkelstein, who would become instrumental in Netanyahu’s electoral success.
When Netanyahu left New York to pursue a political career in Israel, Lauder threw him a farewell party attended by some of the most influential figures in American media and politics, including Rupert Murdoch and the head of the New York Times.
Lauder recalls opening doors for Netanyahu and helping him cultivate the relationships that would underpin his rise to power.
What makes this interview so revealing is that Lauder is no longtime critic of Israel. He had been a committed Zionist, a Republican power broker, and a man who spent decades financing Jewish institutions, cultivating relationships with Arab leaders, and pursuing diplomatic openings on Israel’s behalf.

I’m sorry, but how is so pivotal, historic or life changing if the choices are bombs for Palestinians and bombs for Palestinians?

Más propaganda de Azov. Por cierto, la vida anterior a la guerra a a la que se refieren es el tiempo en el que ya había guerra, solo que los que sufrían estaban lejos y no eran de los suyos.

🇮🇱 Far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's Jewish Power party is poised to win eight or more seats running on its own in Tuesday's election, up from the six it won in 2022 on a joint far-right list. Among Israelis aged 18 to 22, it would take nearly 9% of the vote, according to a poll reported by Ynet, the equivalent of about 15 seats.
Up to a third of its supporters will be voting for the first time, a survey at Hebrew University found.
Ben-Gvir has pushed through a law making hanging the default sentence for Palestinians convicted in military courts of deadly attacks on Israelis, starved and tortured Palestinian prisoners, and vowed to "conquer Gaza, because it's all ours."
"I used to think he was a bit crazy, but then I actually looked at what he was saying, and it all made sense," Gavriel Marmon, an 18-year-old first-time voter from Beit Shemesh, told Reuters.

Anti war but then business is business
⭕️ From Drop Site News’ ‘The Untold Story of Dario Amodei’s Antiwar Past’:
“It was March 3, 2003. The Bush administration was beating the drums of war. An invasion of Iraq was certain. Dario Amodei was in his second year at Caltech where he was studying physics. After penning a column pushing back on an “unfair” student flier claiming Martin Luther King Jr. was supportive of Zionism, Amodei came out swinging against the looming invasion of Iraq, and his “apathetic” fellow students.
“Anti-War Protest: Most Students Apathetic Towards World Politics by Dario Amodei” read the top of page 5 of The California Tech.”
