Eight years ago, I made a decision that confused my friends. I recently wrote an editorial about it and why students should study physics. You can read the English version on Substack, with footnotes for non-physicists. open.substack.com/pub/idini/… #nuclear #physics #science

I just wrote a breakdown of my recent nuclear physics paper over on my Substack. We smashed atoms together to create a superheated, microscopic drop of nuclear matter. To survive, must cool down, "sweating" subatomic particles. (1/2)

My colleagues in Lund observed the evaporation of deuterons for the first time, I did some theory. You can read more here: open.substack.com/pub/idini/… (2/2)

I can't believe it. I got the FIFA prize in physics.

We just published a new paper about a totally new method to compute neutron scattering. The problem is deceptively simple: what happens when you throw a neutron against an atomic nucleus? If we throw many neutrons, how many will bounce off without exchanging energy? (1/n, n=9)

I'm so happy to finally have this out, it is what I tried to do since I started my PhD 15 years ago and the reason why I came back to nuclear physics. I'll be happy to discuss with you, so drop me a mail, DM, comment. journals.aps.org/prc/abstrac… (end)

PS: it was also fun to make it to the editorial selection of physical review C, the main journal for nuclear physics. It never happened to me before and it was like destiny for it to happen now.

🎉I've hit forty a couple of weeks ago. Professionally, I didn’t meet any of the goals I once set for this age. Personally, I’ve been blessed with an amazing wife and a perfect boy who just turned one. ...and lot of friends that remembered my birthday. Thank you for the wishes!

It's 383 A.D. and the region Ceasar aptly named "Magnus maximus" retreats from north Britain after frequent Scotii incursions. #hegseth #europe #war #defence
