ECDSA signatures. Attackers could derive your private key and move your coins.
2⃣ How long do we have?
Realistic timeline to crack a legacy Bitcoin wallet? Adam says "decades away" due to qubit coherence and error correction hurdles. But at @nvrlcl, looking at recent qubit improvements and error correction breakthroughs, 2030 feels far more plausible. Vitalik Buterin warned of relevant quantum computers by 2028, and Ethereum Foundation is already building post-quantum ECC defenses. The real danger is inaction.
3⃣ What does a migration plan look like?
NIST's SLH-DSA standard + Blockstream's SHRINKS optimization, already live on Liquid. Taproot lets you prepare without paying the cost today.

On February 7th, we embarked on a difficult task: Helping British MPs to understand what is going on in Web3 and Quantum. Together with @GianlucaDiBell9 (Mood Global Services) and Dr. Francesco Pierangeli (University of Birmingham), we assembled a task force of experts on these topics, and kicked it off with a dinner at the House of Commons, hosted by @AndrewRosindell MP and Dr. Lisa Cameron.
The format was particularly inspiring: An informal dinner, dotted with a number of interesting contributions. This gave everyone the opportunity to understand the status quo and to network in an amicable and relaxed setting.
Many important arguments where touched upon, equipping decision-makers with the objective assessments they'll need to shape robust, forward-looking legislation. Among others:
@drakefjustin outlined Ethereum's quest towards full post-quantum resistance, a multi-year roadmap already well underway.
@fabgenovese explained the importance of device-independent quantum cryptography in securing the future of global supply chains.
@StefanoGogioso highlighted the opportunity for quantum technology to become a pillar of future British industrial prosperity.
