"When we come together to honour the memory of Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, we are not merely engaging in a historical commemoration. We are undertaking a serious audit of our continent's past, evaluating our present struggles and charting the imperatives for our future survival and prosperity" — President Yoweri Museveni's message delivered by Dr. Crispus Kiyonga #JNLCSymposium2026

The 24 billion shs reportedly saved from not holding mega Independence Day celebrations & other national celebrations should be redirected to critical sectors as opposed to being left without a clear purpose. #KeepingTheGovtInCheck

This week, with support from @aueuyouthvoices, we’re in Tanzania for the East African regional consultations on the African Youth Charter. Taking place on 15 October at @youthhubarusha MS TCDC, the consultation will bring together young people and stakeholders to reflect on two decades of the African Youth Charter, assess progress in its implementation, identify existing gaps, and shape recommendations for the future of youth rights and participation across Africa. As we reflect on the Charter’s journey, we are asking what has changed, what remains unfinished, and what must happen next to turn its commitments into meaningful action for young people.

No flasks of tea, jugs of juice, platters and mountains of doughnuts, samosas, cakes, sausages if I were to sit on or lead a Committee of Parliament. A bottle of water should be enough for each MP, no? 😉 The cost of additional refreshments should be deducted from the sitting allowance. cc: @Parliament_Ug @pwatchug

Today, one of the reasons Gov’t gave us for the increase in fuel prices was the increase in excise duty on fuel. During the budget process, we told Gov't that an increase in tax on fuel, however small, would be problematic, but they didn’t listen! #KeepingTheGovtInCheck

The Governor of BOU warned us about the consequences of the sovereignty bill. Now the shilling has dropped significantly that 1 USD is now at 4,020 Ugx.

That English is too advanced for our PLU boys to understand. 😂 Even the NRM didn’t get it. They passed the Sovereignty Bill thinking it would weaken the opposition, and now the country is choking under the consequences. Sometimes political shortcuts come with a very expensive bill.

It was not just us that opposed the sovereignty bill, the BOU Governor Dr. Michael Atingi-Ego noted on April 28th 2026 that; “the law will lead to a substantial depreciation of the Ugandan currency.” On the other hand, fuel prices are skyrocketing, driving up the cost of essential commodities! #KeepingTheGovtInCheck
