Last week, LIA Director of Business Development Dave Fattizzo attended “Yes In My Backyard: A Regional Leadership Summit on Solar and Battery Energy Storage,” hosted by the @nylcv and its partners on Governors Island.
The summit brought together policymakers, fire safety professionals, labor representatives and industry experts to discuss the role of solar energy and battery storage in supporting a safe, affordable and reliable energy future for New York. Discussions explored community safety, workforce development, public health and grid resilience.
Thank you to the organizers for bringing together regional leaders for this important conversation.

Replying to @LongIslandAssoc @nylcv
Glad fire safety was in the room. New York's 6 GW by 2030 storage plan sets aside funding for downstate projects, where peaker plants are concentrated, so Long Island buy-in really matters. Did the summit get into how local fire reviews for BESS could be made more consistent?

“Today’s approval is a major win for New York's clean energy future," said NYLCV President @julietighe17.
"Thermal energy networks can help us cut pollution from buildings, create good-paying union jobs, and deliver cleaner, more efficient heating and cooling to New Yorkers!"
We applaud @GovKathyHochul for her leadership and the Public Service Commission for giving these two innovative projects the green light and demonstrating that New York is ready to lead on the next generation of clean energy solutions.
