My first paper as an independent young investigator on sex differences in the multivariate genetic architecture of humans got published in PNAS. We estimated the B matrix in humans which shows sexual antagonism mostly driven by testosterone. bit.ly/4bOYoSC

Its finally out! Over 8 years of work by @aliakbari23 shows that selection was pervasive in the last 10,000 years, including for quantitative traits. This was directional selection. Simulations show background selection, etc can not produce the observed patterns.

New work from our group developing a method to estimate the molecular heritability of longitudinal traits (e.g. disease onset, progression, or death). Many traits appear to be a genetic mixture of onset/liability and progression components. See Kodi's thread for more:
Excited to share our preprint introducing COXMM! COXMM is a Cox proportional hazard mixed model for estimating the heritability of time-to-event (TTE)/longitudinal traits. 🧵1/10

Does the gut microbiome explain variation in fitness in wildlife? Our decade-long effort to answer this question in @SI_horses suggests that it does. Out in @NatureComms today:

Many thanks to our handling editor and our peer reviewer for helping us improve on the manuscript!
Curious about what happened to all the data that we collected as part of our initiative?
Wonder no more! We published it!📰

An interesting and brief summary by Peter Whimsatt of Richard Lewontin's impressive scientific accomplishments, both in evolutionary biology and philosophy of biology. Worth reading:

This was an interesting read from Plomin and Deary on the genetics of intelligence. Notably, they make five predictions about what we should expect to see from molecular data, based on their decades of experience with twin studies. Do they hold up? A 🧵:
