heterogeneity of treatment effect recognizes that an intervention’s average effect may obscure meaningful differences across patients. the central question is not simply, “does it work?” but, “for whom does it work—and by how much?”
simulated randomized controlled trials are where causal inference meets computation: model the counterfactuals, stress-test the assumptions, and learn what might work before putting patients through a real trial. healthcare is becoming increasingly simulation-first.
