There's this 1988 book, "The Lexicon of Intentionally Ambiguous Recommendations", full of lines like - I can't recommend him highly enough - I most enthusiastically recommend this man with no qualifications whatsoever - You'll be lucky to get him to work for you - No person would be better for the job and - I am pleased to say that this candidate is a former colleague of mine

I recently had an online conversation with a tracker about forest sounds, especially those made by birds, and how much information they can give you. I’ve heard of this before, but it’s made me pay closer attention to Zorro. He really does listen carefully to everything going on.

Pigeons are so underrated and misunderstood. No one ever appreciates the pigeon, we just see them as poop birds…but they are so much more. Pigeons are the ultimate bird, they are the crème de la creme of birds and no one cares. People appreciate nothing

Chitons - 11 different species of chiton are found in Ireland, but they are quite small and easily overlooked when poking about in the intertidal zone. They're like a cross between a Limpet and a Woodlouse with beautiful patterns 😍 County Clare, Ireland.

It's 2028. Britain is a smoking pile of radioactive ash after Russian nuclear strikes. The captain of HMS Vengeance opens his personal safe, takes out the PM's letter, and is astounded to see that he is being asked to lead the crew in a rendition of "Don't Look Back in Anger".

Well, sir, on scoring the first goal, I naturally ordered the team to park the bus and then lost 2-1; that's my style, sir!
