“Out of 47 sites visited in England and Wales in Wye catchment, 19 had drains running from the poultry units to a nearby watercourse. Many of the farms had drains excavated within a few metres of the sheds.”

British Egg Industry Council quoted in total denial of river pollution caused by egg farms - in the very article that reveals how egg farms are directly causing river pollution 🤦♂️
Almost as awful as the fact that this was allowed to happen in the 1st place theguardian.com/environment/…
Major pollution does NOT come from free range eggs, that is pure Bullshit. Avara trying to get off the hook for the pollution they have caused.
Bravo @RiverActionUK & @watsonchas for bringing this out into the light!
Major problems with pollution coming from free-range egg farms.
The @EnvAgency & @NatResWales have woefully neglected this. Total regulatory failure.

The worst thing about the Post Office story:
THEY KNEW!
The evidence of manure, slurry, nutrient & chemical abuse in the environment is in!
THEY KNEW!
Some Ag, farmers, political & state institutions CHOSE to ignore.
We now have the documented evidence!
@WATERSHED_i let’s talk!
Another sordid chapter in of how the Wye - one of our most iconic rivers - has been allowed to die under a flood of chicken sh☠️t…
Our investigations reveal how intensive egg farms have drains running from their sheds direct into the river - down which the 💩 of 100s of 1,000s of 🐓 freely flows
😡🤬🤯

Dear All
A single group for the Wye and all the catchment is, we believe, the best way to go.
We should all be proud of the effort and results that all groups are achieving.
Merging with #friendsoftheupperwye we are to become 'Friends of the River Wye' early 2024. #savethewye

I wonder what recommendations will come from the scrutiny session of last week where Mr Perry was questioned?

More insight at today's @CommonsWelshAff too.
"Welsh Water has 'nothing to hide' over sewage pollution CEO tells MPs."
Such is the utterly dysfunctional nature of the water industry a company boss can blatantly tell MPs they are knowingly breaking the law and the regulator just shrugs.

The worst environment secretary ever (and that takes some doing!) has resigned. Good riddance @theresecoffey - you were utterly useless, and according to one leading conservationist who met you, the rudest and most uninterested politician they had ever met.

We all get the model of holding @Primark @boohoo accountable for their supply chain behaviour & enviro standards.
Now it’s time for the milk supply chain to get their act togther.
Is this you? @ArlaFoodsUK @Freshways @first_milk @totallywelsh #Müller

New Environment Secretary married to Water Industry executive. An industry that routinely breaks the law and holds the country to ransom over fixing the sewage and supply crises it created by ripping off the billpayer. @guardian

Would be nice if farmers cleaned up their act.
This week the @NFUCymru team attended the Welsh Dairy Show
So many conversations on milk price, NVZs, bTB & trees so it was fantastic to find some positivity by presenting to this years #WelshDairyStockperson of the year award to @HarriVaughan18 with his family beside him 🙌
