Kaoru actually has a tamed monster/pet! He'll never call it a pet, as it's his friend! He's got a metal slime partner that willingly allowed itself to be tamed due to his kindness! It looks like him somewhat, but has noticably distinct features!

Cinnabar, from Houseki no Kuni is it's (current) fc! The slime was never named, mainly cuz Kaoru couldn't think of one and the slime itself had no interest in being named. He's still thinking of a good one.
