I grew up in montreal. I love canada.
but the best decision I ever made was leaving for nyc
I always had an immense amount of ambition, and got constantly clowned for it
“why are you working so hard?”
“you’re not taking 4-6 weeks vacation a year?”
when I worked at a canadian bank downtown, people would line up for after-work club at 4pm on a thursday in finance bro attire on a 70k salary.
I’d show up later to hang with friends and still get questioned.
those same people grind for an extra 10k raise, or pray for an end-of-year bonus, just to afford extracurriculars
montreal is beautiful to visit!
if you want quality of life on a budget, it’s also great
but Canadian work culture caps your ambition, and in turn your potential
Iranian circles are not for me
Last time i brought up Foucault fascination with Khomeini they explained Iran can only achieve sovereignty with US military intervention to install a monarchy
I asked if that is contradictory
They asked if I prefer private or public hospital
Then took me to a windowless room
All the food i buy goes to waste except bread butter marmite and frozen blueberries
I might get scurvy
