A Scottish hardware hacker finally finished an Xbox 360 mod he'd started nine years earlier. The thing that helped him get it done in 2026? A cheap Raspberry Pi Pico, used to dump the console's firmware and program the existing glitch chip. Nine years to finish a project. That's perseverance on a level I can respect 😂

It's funny how "just add user accounts" sounds like such a small job. Until you start dealing with email verification, suspended users, deleted accounts, password resets, bots, expired tokens and people signing up twice. The login form is definitely the easiest part of the whole bloody job.

I'd actually love to see more people building small software again. One PHP file. A bit of HTML. Maybe SQLite. No accounts, no build process, no complicated deployment. Just a useful little tool that does one job. Not everything needs to become a SaaS business.

I'd love to know how many small SaaS products could make perfectly good money charging $5 or $10 a month. Instead, half the internet seems to be selling $49/month subscriptions to people who need the tool twice a week. I wonder how many customers never even get as far as the free trial?

Actually road construction and civil. Bridges, roads, car parks etc. I should probably make that clearer when I mention construction work😆

That sucks! I’ve never had a house built, must have been stressful

One advantage construction has over software development is that when something is built badly, you can usually point at it. A web app can be completely broken underneath and still have a beautiful dashboard, green status indicators and a very convincing loading animation 😂

Researchers put four AI agents into Minecraft and told them to defeat the Ender Dragon. 27 hours. 2,783 programs written. 605 deaths. About $520 in estimated API costs. They actually managed it, on Easy difficulty. I'm impressed by the autonomous programming, but 605 deaths is still pretty funny 😂

I'm building a tool that inspects websites and lets AI be unnecessarily rude about what it finds. One rule I've made absolutely clear: the AI can write the insults, but it can't change the actual measurements or scores. Seems like a fairly sensible arrangement for AI in general 😂

I miss software where you downloaded a program, double-clicked the installer, and that was the end of it. No account. No workspace. No onboarding questionnaire. No monthly subscription. Just an application that did whatever you downloaded it to do.
