Exploring emerging technologies 🔭 AI · Robotics · Future of Science Building a community of future thinkers - Prediction Jar

I've always been curious about the future of technology and where it will lead humanity. Blade Runner. Ghost in the Shell. Astro Boy. Cyberpunk. The kinds of stories that ask, “What happens next to humanity?” and don’t flinch at the answer. When AI became accessible for everyday use, I thought about creating a blog around these ideas and building a community around future discussions. But I felt like I was missing something. Then one day, my fiancé mentioned there was going to be a Cursor Café in Cluj. And as someone who finished both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees with perfect scores, I couldn’t go there unprepared 😄 So I decided I needed to create something. And at that moment, I came up with the idea that became the missing piece for building the kind of community I had imagined. An additional motivation for me to work faster and harder on this idea was the fact that my fiancé and I became participants in the first Uneed Residency batch. It’s an amazing opportunity, and I hope I’ll also be able to add value there. That’s how Prediction Jar was born 🫙 Prediction Jar is a community for people who think about the future of technology, science, and society. Record your predictions. Discuss them. Track them as the world evolves. Find out together when the time comes. Just ideas, on the record. Discussions and Inspiration Starting today, Prediction Jar is ready to welcome your ideas, predictions, and discussions 🥳🎊🎉 And congrats to me on launching my very first project hehe 😄 🎉🥳🎊☺️ I hope we can build a great community of future thinkers together. Predictionjar.com is officially live today🫙 What’s your first prediction? #Predictionjar @DmytroBavykin @cursor_ai @T_Zahil @UneedLists #Uneedresidency #buildinpublic #cursorcafe #firstlaunch

Here we go again! Honestly, it feels like home, and I’m so grateful to be here again. This time, I’ll try to make videos instead of just writing text posts. Your support would be much appreciated ahah P.S. My first French pastry of this residency has already been eaten ahah 🥐 Uneed Residency Batch 2 starts today! 🤩 Big thanks to @T_Zahil for making this real

I disappeared from X and my projects again for various reasons, but one of them is… I PASSED MY DRIVING THEORY TEST! 😱🎉 (On my first try hehe) And I’m honestly so proud of myself because: - I passed! - I did it in a language that’s not my native one! (In English, but still!) I’ve never studied for or taken this test in my native language either, so that makes it feel like an even bigger achievement for me personally. Now I just need to pass the practical driving test ahah 🚗

Thanks @DmytroBavykin for cooking and making me tea while I was preparing for the exam. This is your achievement too hehe 😊

Here is an example of how to improve your product distribution DistroChef analyzed itself against the cookbook and found a recipe for missing social share images, like OpenGraph, generate one and added all the links

You found your tool for distribution ⬇️
Your agent can ship the product. It still has no idea how to get it seen. Plug it into DistroChef and let’s cook👨‍🍳

It took me about <2 days to set up from scratch the billing with @creem_io with me having no previous experience with the platform: - Products - Subscription - Checkout - Webhook & async processing billing lifecycle events - Test/Production configurations - Submitting legal docs Running late to launch the product and meet the deadline I have with Uneed challenge Hope the Creem team would have some time for my submission today

We don't know how AI actually works. I first heard this idea in the book "Scary Smart" (won't recommend it tbh as a source of a true or kinda but it ask interesting questions which Im still thinking about). And then I saw MIT Technology Review say it too, straight up: even the researchers who build these models can't fully explain why they give the answers they give. My first reaction was “wait, it's not AGI, it's not some superbrain. It's an LLM. It's trained to predict the next word in a sentence (if to simplify, a lot, of course). So... shouldn't the engineers know exactly what's happening inside? And where's the actual problem then?” To understand that I asked AI to explain it to me like I'm 5: “Imagine a kid who was never taught grammar, math, or facts about the world. You give them one game: "guess the next word." Billions of times. Eventually they get scary good at it — but they built their own private rules to do it. Rules nobody taught them. Rules nobody wrote down.” That's it. That's the problem. We wrote the game. We did not write the rules it invented to win the game. That's exactly what's happening with AI right now and that's why researchers are trying to reverse-engineer it, basically studying it like an alien species that just landed on Earth. Why does not knowing how AI actually works matter is my question for the tomorrow research Gonna share the answers here tomorrow too. Update, 2 days after entering the challenge: still 0 lines of code BUT I’ve been writing the specs and figuring out the details for two full working days already Honestly, I didn’t expect this project to be so challenging when it comes to the details, or that this particular project idea would require me to think through so many, many things in advance 😱 Right now, I’m going to get myself and some stuff ready for the Apple presentation (@DmytroBavykin and I have a tradition of watching it live), so I’ll continue writing the documentation tomorrow. And I’m really curious to see how much longer it will take 🤔 Do you write docs before vibe coding?
Started a new project🚀 The plan was to deliver the MVP in 2 months, but I committed to launching it in just 23 days by the end of this month. Right now I have 0 lines of code 🥹 But If I do it, I’ll receive bonuses from other participants for their projects🤩 Yeah, I’m not the only one doing it. The power of the Uneed community ahah. I really hope I can pull this off. At least, it’s a very fun experiment So the main motivation- if I make it, I’ll get bonuses from other participants, just as they’ll get a bonus from me if they finish their projects on time. uneed.best/goals (There are also all the people who are the reason all of this started ahah)

I don’t have a balcony or anything like that in my apartment, so coffeehouses like this are a real gem for me ☕️ (Next apartment should definitely have easy private access to the outdoors)

This is the 2d Uneed Residency and I am rejoining it with pleasure! (so 2/2 so far hehe). Previous time, Uneed Residency became a huge motivation for me to finally launch Prediction Jar. In the end, it became not only a place that gave me energy and motivation, but also a place where I met some truly amazing people (something I never get tired of saying even if this summer I was not a very active X user ahah) I’m super happy to have another opportunity created by @T_Zahil (and @DmytroBavykin to me personally) to be part of Uneed Residency, and I’m already looking forward to all the interactions, ideas, and inspiration we’re going to exchange. Btw, this time I also want to manage to build a new, still-secret project. So the motivation tradition and tradition of secret project 🤐 is definitely not going anywhere ahah. The work or rather, the rework on Prediction Jar is also continuing. Sometimes, in order to make the next big leap, you need to slow down the visible progress and learn new skills. That’s exactly what I’m working on right now.(except for the days I can honestly call pure procrastination and there were the majority of this summer period😅😱) But (and) I already really want to show you everything I am working on right now.
They're coming back 😱🥳!! @olexalysenko and @DmytroBavykin already participated in the first batch, and they enjoyed it so much they wanted to come back 🥰 This is exactly what the Residency is about: making friends. They were both starting they entrepreneurial this summer, I can't wait to see where they're at now 🤩 Thank you so much for your trust, both of you, and see you very soon in Nantes, again 😍!!

I promised to come back with updates on Prediction Jar, but instead I’m showing up with a bike ride - my first one in a very, very long time. My first e-bike ride ever. My first time happily reaching 30 km/h (which is super fast for me). And apparently, I was worried about the wrong thing. I thought I’d be scared riding on the roads outside the city. Turns out, I didn’t really enjoy the forest ride, while going downhill and up the hills on open country roads was SO much fun. P.S. I’m back to working on Prediction Jar, and I’ll be sharing what’s going on there very soon. Thanks for the ride and emotional support in the forest to @DmytroBavykin 😁

It's been a little over two weeks since I got my e-reader, and my main goal was simple: reduce the friction between me and reading. So... it worked I'm really happy that I've replaced scrolling with reading. And before you think my page has turned into a book club... I'm getting back to building a platform for tech lovers and futurists (from complete newbies to pros ahah). Next week I'll be sharing updates on the new design, some fun features, and a few more details about Prediction Jar

Why I chose this one (For those who are also thinking about buying an e-reader or simply wondering whether it's worth upgrading yours) I wanted something simple but comfortable: Physical page-turn buttons. Easy to transfer any book from my laptop. A screen larger than my phone. Water resistance (for reading by the pool or in the bath, even if I don't do either very often, it's nice to have). No ads (I was extremely surprised that some e-readers show ads). Automatic brightness adjustment. I didn't specifically need a paper-like display because I already have an iPad, and I plan to add a paper-like screen protector to it. After comparing different options, Kobo Libra Colour turned out to be the perfect fit. The color screen wasn't a must-have, but this model had the screen size and physical buttons I wanted. And I have to admit… making colorful highlights is much more fun than I expected.

3rd day using it, and I can’t stop This isn’t actually my first e-reader. I had one when I was around 11–13 years old, and somehow it was the only thing that made me read. I wasn’t a “book kid” at all, but for some reason I enjoyed reading on that device. At some point I stopped charging it… and eventually it was too late to bring it back. Fast forward to now. For a long time, I had a huge reading list, but I kept procrastinating. Reading somehow felt like an activity you have to prepare for. I couldn’t just open a book and read for 10 minutes. During the Uneed Residency, my fiancé and I noticed that @DmytroKrasun had an e-reader, and it reminded me of my old one. That’s when I realized why it had worked so well for me years ago. An e-reader removes the friction. You can pick it up, read for five minutes, put it down, and continue your day. No preparation, no pressure. I’ve had mine for only three days now, and I can’t stop using it. Instead of automatically opening Instagram whenever I have a few free minutes, I find myself reaching for my book instead. I honestly didn’t expect that change to happen so quickly.

"Don't be afraid to look stupid." That was my advice in @benjamincode video from the Uneed Residency. I believe most people wait until they look smart (in dif meanings) before they start. It's still something I catch myself doing from time to time. That's exactly why many people never even start. And if you're building something, whether it's your first project or your tenth I recommend watching the whole video. One piece of advice can change the way you think, and you never know which one will be exactly what you need to hear today. P.S. Thank you, Benjamin, for capturing the residency so beautifully. Watching this brought back so many amazing memories. youtube.com/watch?v=QPtErR49…
