May I add that if you're not a very determined and strong-willed person, the requirements a person is expected to meet before one can sue a disco is very daunting. I am almost certain that for every 10 matters that would have ended in court against them, 7 were left to God by those affected because of the procedures. Out of the remaining 3, maybe one enjoys actual trial. P.O kills the other 2. I was digging through one time. I came across a judgement. A learned Silk sued a disco and the P.O that killed his suit was to the effect that he didn't approach Forum before approaching the court. About 4 steps, with each coming with needless bottlenecks that sap your resources. And this is another issue with Nigeria. An entity could have a DG on its website as the head and you address a letter to that DG. Ms Akande at the front desk would have a perfunctory glance at your letter and assert: "We cannot take this letter. Address it to Chairman. He is Chairman not DG." You change it to Chairman and return 2 weeks later to be told that he is no longer addressed as the Chairman, but the President. Interestingly, matters of such nature interest me so much. It piques my curiosity and I want to know exactly how it will end. The area manager of an entity once abused power in my estate. The estate said we should leave her to God, I said God has asked me to handle it. I wrote to her, demanding unreserved apology and undertaking not to attempt such in my estate again. She ignored my letter. I took it to the next authority. They transferred her from my area to another. I wrote another letter and said: "No. Transfer doesn't solve it. She must apologise and undertake never to try such again, or else I will stress your system". The entity sent a 3-man delegate to my house on a Saturday morning. My letter promised hell first thing on Monday. They admitted that they didn't want to wait till Monday. They were polite. Their head of legal was steaming side glances at me. I knew why and they admitted it later. "You look too gentle for that letter". After their apologies and good words, we shook hand and while they were leaving, I repeated: "The former area manager must write a letter of apology and undertake never to try such in this estate again". She did. To survive in Nigeria, you must be a man or woman or steel. You must carry a scorpion-like tail and anyone who tramples on you or your right must get an offence-appropriate dosage. In Abuja for instance, there's one of the platforms where the person meant to receive your complaint acts with reckless abandon and uses her discretion to determine which petition would be received and which would not be.
Saw this on one of my Whatsapp groups. EKEDC IN DESPERATION _____ I installed an 18kW solar power system at my property in Lekki Phase 1, relegating EKEDC supply to a backup status. Since then, I have been having more frequent visits from personnel of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), coming to check my prepaid meter. On one of those visits, the EKEDC team stood watching the meter for motion to indicate consumption. When the meter wasn't moving, they called me to say they suspected I had bypassed the meter. I told them I had enough solar power for my daytime needs and only used their supply as a backup for the dark hours. To prove this to them, I switched on my inverter bypass for about 2 minutes so my consumption would be from EKEDC. They saw the meter rotating normally. They were visibly upset and one of them mumbled something like "This ọ̀gá no wan gree us chop". They left. Today (19-Oct-2026), three of them came to my premises with a notice of disconnection. The last time I loaded an EKEDC token was in July 2026 and I still had ample units left. When I asked why they would disconnect me, they said the reason was "LOR" (Loss of Revenue). They said my slow consumption indicates a faulty meter and I had to pay them ₦112,606 for loss of revenue. I told them my meter was not faulty and that they could test it if they wanted. The lady said they were losing revenue and they had to make up for it. I didn't know whether to laugh or to be angry. I have no intention of paying EKEDC a dime for its loss of revenue due to my taking steps to protect my interest. But, I share this story for all who are investing in solar power to know that the DisCos are now desperate. They now have "Loss of Revenue" as a reason for your disconnection from their supply. It is simply that they are not making enough money from you. I am waiting for EKEDC to disconnect me from their grid before I lodge a formal complaint to the regulatory authority. We are in interesting times in Nigeria! Raphael Awoseyin 19-Oct-2026

CONSUMER AWARENESS IN SCHOOLS KNOW YOUR RIGHTS AS A PARENT/GUARDIAN You enrol your child in a school. After completing the admission process, the school provides a list of books, stationery and uniforms to purchase. You find the same approved and equivalent items at another shop at a lower price and decide to buy them there. But the school tells you: “No. You must buy them from us. We don’t accept books or uniforms purchased elsewhere.” ⚠️ KNOW THIS: Where equivalent approved products are reasonably available elsewhere, parents and guardians should generally be free to choose where to purchase them. A school should not unnecessarily restrict parents from buying equivalent approved books, uniforms or stationery from other suppliers. YOU HAVE A CHOICE. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS. SPEAK UP. HAVE A CONSUMER PROTECTION CONCERN? I built the Nigerian Literature Archive for the books many of us grew up reading and the ones we may have forgotten. From Ige Adubi to Ralia the Sugar Girl, Eze Goes to School and more, it’s a small way to preserve and rediscover Nigerian literature. nigerian-lit.vercel.app/
I collected most of the responses to this tweet, cleaned them up, and gave them a home. It’s now a digital archive where you can discover books you grew up reading and add more books to the collection. Made with Claude Code. Link: nigerian-lit.vercel.app

Nigeria keeps saying it doesn’t have enough doctors. We have only about 50,000 doctors serving over 200 million people. That's 1 Doctor to over 4,000 patients. You'd expect every doctor willing to serve to be encouraged. Instead, one is detained after carrying out a menstrual hygiene outreach in Kaduna State. Another 238 young doctors who returned home to practise wake up to an unexplained increase in their induction fees from ₦265,000 to over ₦415,000. We cannot keep discouraging the very people we desperately need. I respectfully appeal to the @KadunaMOH, @GovKaduna, @WHONigeria, @NGRSenate, @NGRPresident, and @Fmohnigeria to ensure Dr Al-Amin regains his freedom, and to the @MDCNOfficial to review this new fee.

Hi @jidesanwoolu, @hanneymusawa I'm deeply disappointed in your @lirs_govng team hounding Selar in the name of claiming creator royalty taxes. I turn 30 in Oct and I've spent the last 10 years building Selar, so this is what the youth mean by policies being created to crush growing businesses. We are the pioneering and largest creator company in Nigeria (Africa actually), and instead of being supported by the government, the LIRS team is keen on trying to scapegoat us to set a precident. Beyond the huge numbers seen in the headlines, we are still a young company just trying to make our mark for the creator economy in a country where we've never been supported once, we're literally a bootstrapped company. In 2025 alone, we've fulfilled our tax obligation in almost 9 figures and we've never missed out on any of our tax obligation over the years. You can check the records. We are a software company, we make our ecommerce software available to our thousands of creators in not just Nigeria but 13 other African countries and for that, we earn a small commission of 4%, most of which goes to our payment provider. This is the same business as shopify, teachable, e.t.c There is no reason LIRS is hounding us for a backdated 5% royalty fee on all sales when we've clearly explained our line of business to them and shared everything to prove we are not a royalty based business. What they're asking us to do is raise our pricing to extort these funds from our creators which is odd considering our creators still pay taxes on their income. No creator company in the world charges as high as even 5%. Also, less payment gateway charges we get 1-3% max, so where do we pay backdated 5% fees from? The government would have to decide if it wants the Nigerian creative economy to grow or not. This conversation is important to me because we pioneered this industry of monetizing digital products online in Nigeria and today we host over 400k creators selling using our platform. This is an opportunity for the government to show it's committment to making Nigeria work for young Nigerians especially in the creator economy. Time and money we should be spending investing into our business and it's growth for the GDP of this nation is being spent in long back and forth. We can't catch up with the west if this is what we're facing at home. Above everything else, disputes like this are distracting from the real work. If anything, for all our CSR contributions to the education system in the country with our Smart Hustle Anti fraud initiative and our other efforts, we should be getting tax rebates, but we're not even asking for anything but to be left alone to build our business. Thank you.

If someone in your house looks dead, don't call the police. You are automatically digging your grave, if you know how Nigerian Police takes these matters especially if you don't have money. You go suffer. Under the law, you are presumed innocent until proven guilty, but once you report to the police you will be presumed guilty until proven innocent which can take years. Take the person to the nearest hospital, it is the duty of a doctor to declare someone dead and also since you are not a doctor, you may be wrong to think the person is already dead. Taking the person to the hospital gives them a chance to be resuscitated by the doctors and if they fail to revive the person, they can then declare the person dead. That is when you can then call your lawyer. If you don't have a lawyer already, we built @UseCaseRadar for you so you can easily sign up at caseradar.ai or download the Case Radar app and connect with lawyers no matter the time and no matter the place you are. You should only report crimes to the police and since you didn't kill the person, I really don't know why you are reporting yourself to the police. If I were to be your lawyer, and you contact me, the next thing would be to help you contact the family of the person. The family can then report to the police themselves if they have reasonable grounds to suspect that you killed the person and we can take it up from there.
If babe die for your place, what’s the best option.
