My son had a complete meltdown just before bed tonight. It wasn’t really clear why, but it was clear he was exhausted. I had him say goodnight and got him cleaned up and ready for bed. As I was tucking him in, I asked if he wanted to talk about anything and he said yes.

The kids brought home seedlings from school before summer break. We’ve always just put them on the windowsill until they die. I decided to engage the kids a bit more this time and take care of the seedlings together. Been a fun project with hopefully some squash as a reward.

I watched the first Rocky movie again last night and this was my big take away: Most of us carry buried potential. Not because we lack capacity, but because nothing has yet called it forth. Love, more than anything else, does this. Being loved. Loving someone in return. Those experiences can reach down into places we did not know were there and draw something out of us. In my own life, the greatest unlocking has come through my wife, my children, and God. - Times when I loved deeply. - Times when I was deeply loved. Each one seemed to uncover another layer, until more of the man I was meant to be came into view. Two other big takeaways: 1. Take your shot 2. Don't give up What movie have you seen recently that stayed with you, and what did it leave you with?

The forecast called for rain and thunderstorms every day of vacation. We almost let it shape our expectations. Instead, we had sunshine, beach days and only a few passing showers. Forecasts are guides, not guarantees. Don’t let tomorrow’s prediction steal today’s experience.

Some children test your patience more than others. Every day becomes a cycle of reflection. - What happened? - Why? - What can we do differently? In those moments, your greatest responsibility isn’t having all the answers. It’s showing up as your best self.

Children have a remarkable ability to make ordinary things feel extraordinary. Maybe that’s not because they’re seeing the world for the first time. Maybe it’s because they’re seeing it the way we’re meant to.

The coffee pot accepted drips of inspiration while my eyes adjusted to the morning light. A moment lived countless times yet somehow this moment was different. Perhaps there was something special about this morning. Perhaps I simply noticed it.

Favorite thing on vacation? Being with the whole family is great and yes we make tons of memories together. But the few minutes of peace my wife and I get in the morning to have a cup of coffee and read together take the top spot.

Your calendar is remarkably honest. It tells you not what you believe, but what repeatedly receives your attention. Every once in a while it’s worth comparing the two and asking whether your life reflects the values you would say matter most. That’s where integrity begins.

$0.28 That’s what 4 kids, a fountain and a handful of wishes cost today. I doubt they’ll remember the coins. I think they’ll remember making wishes together. The best family memories are rarely the most expensive. They’re the ones that remind your kids you were fully there.

“Why must all the operations in life be performed without an anesthetic?” That line from To Have and Have Not stuck out to me. We spend so much of life trying to avoid discomfort. We distract ourselves, numb ourselves, and postpone the hard conversations.

But the moments that change us rarely arrive painlessly. They ask us to stay present when we’d rather look away. Growth has a cost and so does becoming a better husband. Or a better father. Or a better man. Maybe the goal isn’t to escape the pain.

30 minutes on a bike with my son this morning. The ride won’t change his life, but enough moments like this just might. It’s rarely about the activity. It’s about consistently showing your kids they’re worth your time.

Got out for a 30 minute walk before anyone else was up this morning. I came back with more energy, more patience and a better mindset for my family. It’s rarely about the walk. It’s about the dad who comes home from it.

Family vacations aren’t always relaxing. They’re parenting in a different zip code. They’re loud, messy and exhausting. But they’re also where some of your family’s best memories are made. Keep showing up.

Good morning crew 🌅☕️🤝 Watching my son play soccer this morning is a reminder that the only way to discover what you enjoy is to try things. Not everything will be your thing. But every attempt helps you learn a little more about who you are and what brings you to life.

Most people think growth requires adding more: More goals More effort More pressure But some of the biggest improvements come from removing things: 🔹 reactions without reflection 🔹 unnecessary urgency 🔹 constant distraction Clarity often follows simplicity.
