#OpenBioForge now has a release target: open source under GPL v3, early 2027.
In the meantime, here’s the full play-through I mentioned in August. Uncut, no commentary, 1 hour 21 minutes.

Also gave openbioforge.com a refresh, with the project’s history going back to 1995, new screenshots and an FAQ.

Big milestone: I've just finished my first full play-through of BioForge running entirely in #OpenBioForge! No workarounds, no cheats, start to finish. Combat, NPC AI, projectiles, and damage all fully working. Now onto bugs and polish. #BioForge #retrogaming

I can't even explain to you guys how hard it was to get motion inside BioForge back in the '90s.
After extracting the depth video, the effect obtained by video referencing is very good.
1. Prepare the reference video
2. Extract the depth video
3. Prepare the character reference images
4. Input the extracted depth video and character reference images into seedance2, and you will get perfect results
Complete workflow is below:
"That was one sorry excuse for a security robot. Makes a great bonfire though..." 🔥
New in #OpenBioForge: dynamic palette-based lighting, climbing, balancing on ledges, fall recovery, body-zone combat and positional audio.

BioForge turns 31 today. I've been heads-down on OpenBioForge - here's an uncut playthrough showing where things are at. Early combat, hit detection, dynamic effects, and more. #OpenBioForge #BioForge

Had some fun with AI to visualize what a #BioForge Unit AP-127 figurine might look like! Could be a cool #3DPrinting project once #OpenBioForge is complete.
Experimenting with native analog gamepad support in #OpenBioForge! 🎮 Let me know your button layout ideas in the comments (keep in mind fixed cameras, and over a dozen attack types).
Excuse the amateur phone recording 😅

Been heads-down coding #OpenBioForge for months and forgot to post updates!
Latest: Quake-style console, motion-linked sfx and events, 168/188 script interfaces complete, Linux compatibility, and much more.
Back to coding! #BioForge #GameDev

Time for @robzacny and @patrickklepek to explore the strange detours their favorite developers have made over the years. In other words, an excuse to talk about BioForge. Time to Remember Some Games, people! remapradio.com/articles/deep…

Nice video about reverse engineering the classic BioForge video game.
Follow @openbioforge if you don't don't already do it.

1/6 Significant refinement of movement/animation in #OpenBioForge! Most complex cut-scene now working (minus projectiles & some details). Check it out. Interested in a tech deep dive? Read on... #BioForge #GameDev
5/6 Pros: Better responsiveness, consistent speed, acceleration support, simpler collisions, future analog control. Con: Potential foot slippage, which I'm minimizing with careful tuning and blending.
