TacTrace is live at: tactrace.orbat-mapper.app/ Still very much a work in progress, so I'd love your feedback and bug reports. I mostly built it as a sandbox for myself before adding things to ORBAT Mapper. (2/2)

I'm testing out a new "Size units by echelon" mode in ORBAT Mapper. You'll find it by clicking on the lab icon in the toolbar.

Try it out at orbat-mapper.app/scenario/de… I'll make this a core feature but I want some feedback from users first. Currently it does not do any changes to your scenario.

You can now size units by echelon in TacTrace. Hope it makes sense, and if not, let me know!

A few years ago, Norway beckoned. Oslo, Rjukan, Stavanger. The Hardangervidda and Vemork - following in the footsteps of Operation Freshman, Grouse, et al. Life-changing, in the way it made me consider mapped terrain. Never forgotten it, nor the many discoveries along the way. Slightly envious of @nickfshort this week, in country.

Users have asked for a 'size units by echelon' feature, so I'm looking into it. Any suggestions on what ratios I should use as the default?

experiments with a new webgl 3d globe renderer that breaks free of the limits of existing libraries by (1) separating tesselation and LOD of the terrain mesh from XYZ tiles (2) rendering in more 'native' ECEF

MapLibre 6.15 now supports maps in any projection. That is actually quite exciting news.

The idea: attach terrain analysis directly to control measures and units. Currently supported: elevation profiles, viewsheds, slope mobility, and helicopter landing sites.”

TacTrace now features basic terrain analysis tools. Still experimental, but fun to play around with!

Now also with elevation snapping to make it easier to hit the highest/lowest point in the area around the ovserver.

The Hellfire tool now needs to be enabled in advanced settings (off by default). This is, after all, a serious tool. 😎
