Don't overextend ⛩️
Quicksand will destroy you ⏳
Another preview of my @AzukiTCG simulator.
Keep notifs on if you want beta access. A lot of you are requesting it, so I need to put up a system to collect the requests and slowly roll them out!
PS. You'll be able to export replays of your games, like this one! Aside from cards your opponents drew, you still won't be able to see what was in the rest of their deck.

Introducing Fractured Domains (AZK-02), the second set of Azuki TCG arriving November 20.
Ask your local game store about preorders.
Thank you @Azuki and @steamboy33 for giving me the opportunity to be part of the manga. It’ll be almost 5 years for both of us soon, so it’s pretty surreal to see how far this IP has come and to now have a small piece of myself immortalized in it.
Let’s see how the chapters unfold, and how the TCG community, manga readers, and CT community gravitate toward the Black Jades and learn more about this character. There’s a lot to be excited about with this IP, and maybe one day this character will grow into something that captures the hearts of millions.
Let’s continue to see how deep this rabbit hole goes.

Something I wanted to clarify now that the manga is out:
Over the years, we’ve told Azuki stories in different formats. With the manga, we’ve found the format we want as the primary driver of the story. So what does that mean for things like the Shao 2.5D short? What’s “canon”?
The manga is a new endeavor for me, especially on the writing side, so I wanted to maintain as much creative flexibility as possible. There were a few things I knew we had to preserve: the characters, the setting, red beans and gates, and the spirit of the story between the two sisters.
Believe it or not, balancing all of those elements was already quite a task. But to tell the kind of story I wanted to tell in manga form, I ultimately decided to take things in a slightly different direction from what was portrayed in the Shao origin short.
Here’s one way to think about it:
In the manga industry, it’s common for a creator’s first version of a series to be a one-shot. They might submit it to a publisher, and if it’s selected, work with an editor to develop it into an ongoing series. What eventually gets serialized often differs in some ways from that original one-shot. You can see this in series like Naruto, Bleach, and many others.
I see the Shao origin short as our “one-shot.”
It established our core characters, themes, tone, and an early version of how the story might begin. The manga doesn’t stray far from those foundations, but some details have evolved now that Azuki is an ongoing series.
So going forward, if you’re wondering which version of Shao’s story to treat as canon, it’s the manga.
That doesn’t make the 2.5D short any less important. I see it as the story that helped us find our way here. An early version of Azuki that established so much of what still sits at the heart of the manga today.

I've been really heartened by all the positive feedback so far, and thankful to everyone who's expressed their passion and excitement. Thank you!
I wanted to mention my thoughts on the use of generative AI to directly alter the art and pages of the manga.
Even though I feel everyone should be allowed to celebrate their fandom in whatever way they choose, these quick edits really turn me off. For newer readers and people who are new to Azuki, it might be hard to distinguish between the authentic art and AI generations.
These early days are an important time for a new manga to establish its visual identity and for readers to become familiar with the work as it was intended to be seen. I want to make sure that identity has the chance to take root clearly.
I hope everyone can be mindful of this as they express their fandom online 🙏

This manga is the culmination of a lot of hard work and dedication. Even though I've been working on Azuki in many forms over the years, this is the story in it's purest form, and the most personal to me.
It's literally only the first chapter, but I never would have made it even this far without the support of many:
Thank you to my family for being my biggest supporters and greatest fans (and for being the first test readers!).
Thank you to @Zagabond for believing in me and believing in this vision. The manga would not exist without your trust and support. Can you believe it's been 5 years since we created Azuki?
Thank you @MissJess_T, our chief brand officer for being the smartest, most reliable and awesome partner I could ask for through this process.
Thank you @febtea. We built the Azuki story together over all these years and it's finally coming to fruition!
The thing about the manga that I'm most confident about is the art, and for that I have to thank my long time friends and fellow artists @njoo and jryder. You guys always bring your A game and have elevated the artistic vision for the manga every step of the way.
Too many others to shout out, but thank you to @_Tomugi and the Azuki art team for building this universe with me, @sohkiazuki and @celerydotfish for making my art move and look even better, @dash_tokyo_ for help on the jp sound effects, @heyskylark on dev, @dgtlemissions on community, @sadboobs_eth for social, everyone at Azuki supporting along the way and anyone else I missed!

Introducing Fractured Domains (AZK-02), the second set for Azuki TCG.
November 20, 2026.
to compare NFT buyers as “collectors complaining they didn’t get free tshirts when all they bought was a collectible” is extreme revisionist history at best, and more reasonably shifting blame / gaslighting.
to have sold NFTs in the peak meta was a universally understood truth and value exchange: I give you royalties and mints, you give me ponzinomics.
I remember the mindmap, the reward promises, the products built. There’s no hiding it.
THAT BEING SAID, we (collectors) now have to face the reality of our stupidity, and/or accept that “the debt has been paid”. We were dumbasses taking stupid risks, we got our token, and the market has evolved. it has simply become 99% illogical for companies to “focus fully on web3” (again, someone pls give me a clear example how that looks).
what once implied ponzinomics has devolved into collectibles. that is our new reality. I think there are quite cheap ways to still reward ownership beyond “they’ll develop the IP”, so hopefully the balance will come back one day.
still love what the team is doing, not going anywhere, but I do wish the 99.99% focus on web2 was shifted back a bit to 98%.

I’m officially part of the Azuki team.
Crazy.
I honestly never thought I would say those words.
I've been part of the Garden for almost five years now, and somewhere along the way, @Azuki became a much bigger part of my life than I ever expected.
I came into this community like a lot of us did. I collected, made memes, created edits and art, spent countless hours in Discord and on X, and just tried to find ways to contribute.
Over time, that turned into building.
BBB. Community events. @GRDNCaretakers. @TheGateIKZ. Countless tools and projects for the community.
I never had some grand plan for where any of it would lead. I just loved being part of the Garden and wanted to make cool things that added something to it.
Then earlier this year, I got the opportunity to start working with Azuki as a contractor, helping build the app and tournament software behind @AzukiTCG.
And now, that opportunity has turned into something I never imagined when I first joined this community.
I'm officially joining Azuki full-time as a Software Engineer.
What makes all of this even more surreal is how much Azuki has already given me along the way.
I've made lifelong friends here. I've traveled, competed, created things I'm incredibly proud of, and shared experiences with people from all over the world.
Most importantly, I met my fiancée, @calistawu, here.
Azuki quite literally changed my life.
And now I have the opportunity to help build its future as part of the team.
Somehow, my love for TCGs, building, creating, and this community all found their way to the same place. I couldn't have planned it if I tried.
I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey. To @Zagabond, @JCM1117, @_Tomugi, @dgtlemissions, the entire @AzukiTCG team, and this community, thank you for the support, the trust, and the opportunity.
The Garden has given me more than I ever could have expected when I first joined.
Now I get to give back to it in a whole new way.
We keep building. ⛩️
