Oh my God!

A startup isn't supposed to make money.
It's supposed to grow fast and maximize the odds of returning a multiple to its investors.
Once you take VC money, your job is to increase value, not generate profit. If a company in my portfolio is sitting on profits, I'm annoyed. That cash should be going back into growth.
If you own 100% of your company, do whatever you want with the profits. Pay yourself a dividend. Buy a boat. Your call.
With VC funding, it doesn't work that way. Dividends sometimes become acceptable after an IPO, long after anyone still calls the company a startup.
Profit isn't the goal, it's what's left when you've run out of better places to put the money.

Entrepreneurship is trading years of your life to find out which of your ideas were good.

Whether your face beat is 15k, 30k, 50k, 100k or 500k.
You will clean it at night, the money paid does not mean it is permanent. A 15k make up would still eat.
That said, how much does it cost to set up a make-up studio? Asking for a friend.
Height is not a problem in dating.
Attitude is.
One day, I went on a fantastic date with a guy who was my height: 5'7".
He mentioned that dating as a short guy was hard. I sympathized.
Our next date, he told me that he'd met a girl off a dating app for coffee, and as soon as she saw him, she said, "You're too short," and RAN AWAY 😭
Our next date, he complained about his height.
And the next.
And the next.
One day, in yet another rant, he said, "It's just so shallow! It'd be like if a guy refused to date girls with small boobs!"
I, a small-boobed girl: 😐
"Wait, no," he said. "I didn't mean it like that."
And I'm sure he didn't.
But it doesn't matter. The point still stands: when your insecurity about yourself comes out as friendly fire at someone who actually likes you, you need to get over it.
And even before that, I'd been annoyed.
We dated for 4 months, so as he continued complaining, the message I received was simple: me liking him wasn't enough.
What he wanted was the access to women other men had, and one girl liking him sure as hell didn't fix that!
This is an @EboigbeAnita & @WorkWithLenora appreciation tweet. 💐
Thank you for organising Becoming Globally Excellent Under Local Constraints✨. ❤️
I'm a vaseline girlie through and through but this particular weather humbled me.
I didn't bother restocking.

One of the advice I consistently received during my undergraduate days is to build my network before I need it.
I used to hold onto it until I started questioning how correct it is. I don’t agree so much with it anymore.
Because If every interaction is secretly being evaluated for what it might do for your career later, is that actually relationship-building?
I just need other perspectives to this.
Do you create your network solely on the basis of what they would do for your career later?

Two founders. One major disagreement. No clear process for resolving it.
A shareholders’ agreement should address three things:
→ Deadlock
→ Share transfers
→ Dispute resolution
Agree on the process before you need it.
More on Friday.

New blog post.
Do you need a shareholders’ agreement before you raise?
Consider how your company will handle deadlocks, share transfers and disputes before these questions become urgent.

My friend told me that I inspire people without meaning to.
W!
I actually mean to, but I'm only human. 😂 Which is EXACTLY the point.
NEVER give up.
I just completed a company tax compliance training for one of your favourite companies here.
Even 2025 me would have fainted from pride. 💐

Everything is diplomacy.
You ask in clear words communicating the position with citations (you don't need the exact section, the law or principle would do.) inside your question.
While you posture as if you're not sure meanwhile you have told me what you think inside the question.
But I totally understand that some wi shout and not hear you.
You'll take your L, note the correct state of things as the court said it, INSIDE the case file, and move on.
This way, you have something (they are likely to respect) to refer to in future when the argument comes up.
Replying to @ovedjerory @emphylex
Sometimes you know the actual position but some principals won’t want to listen.
