I spent the night folding notes of encouragement into paper airplanes.
At dawn I sat on the balcony watching the night’s shadows taper.
Poured my third cup of coffee around seven and started throwing the planes I had made
By the time the buses started showing up there were dozens of planes in flight and even more laying in wait on the ground.
If I’m caught there will be another fine.
But for now the children are collecting planes before the first day of school and breakfast is getting cold.
