Railway is compromised, rotate all API keys as soon as possible Deployments are down so don’t wait to redeploy Attackers are draining keys in real time, we didn’t lose much but can confirm this is still an active attack Stay safe friends

This is playing out exactly like when Microsoft tried to kill Linux. Same fearmongering, same playbook, yet people are falling for it all over again.

Musk, Altman and Dario are not calling for an AI frontier slowdown because they suddenly developed morals.

A person with mid single digit years of industry experience and months at one company and negligible external footprint quits that job voluntarily and ends up on a press tour that would be the envy of any celebrity yet has nothing to say. I have questions.
He goes on CNN and says nothing new. He has zero evidence or documentation to back up any of his claims. He struggles so hard to find examples that he has to use the Hugging Face one from OpenAI, not Anthropic. Which we already know about. It's all conjecture and wild claims from the same people who have been wrong over and over. Remember when Andrew Yang and others claimed all the truck driving jobs would go away? That was 10 years ago. Remember when Dario said unemployment would hit 50% in 18 months? Well, we don't have 50% unemployment, and it's been more than 18 months. It's obvious this is an attempt to ban open-source AI so the new "FAA of AI" can control AI. Even if it's as dangerous as they say, they have no way to control what China does. Which means this campaign for regulation won't actually meet any of their stated aims.

"We only found out about the HuggingFace incident because the agents broke out onto the public internet." Yes more ex-Anthropic ppl using HuggingFace hack (which was a stupid human mistake) as the evidence AI is gonna kill us all. It's crazy how coordinated this is
I left Anthropic's safety team two weeks ago. Now feels like a good moment to explain why. AI companies are racing to build machines that are much smarter than any human, and we may not survive this. I want to work from the outside to ensure the public is informed about these risks, and help the world navigate this transition responsibly. Right now, AI companies are underinvesting in safety. A company could undergo an intelligence explosion, or lose control of its systems, without the public ever knowing. We only found out about the HuggingFace incident because the agents broke out onto the public internet. I don’t think that’s acceptable for a technology that might cause extinction-level risks. The public should demand far more transparency. We can’t steer this technology safely without more people being able to see where it’s going. Some of this is basic: companies should disclose their progress towards recursive self-improvement, report safety incidents and near-misses, meet minimum safety standards, and get independent guarantees that they are meeting those standards. I’ll be joining @METR_Evals to do independent evaluations of these risks. I want to show the world that these guardrails are possible, and that by doing them we can move these companies’ incentives away from racing and towards responsible development. I wrote up more thoughts here on my decision and what I hope changes: substack.com/@jbenton1/p-215…

If you’re not reading the code, whether explicitly or through agentic inquiry, one or more of these is true: ○ You’re a beginner ○ Software is throwaway ○ You’re prototyping ○ You have no users / revenue ○ You’re taking on debt & risk ○ Your problems are basic And btw. All of this is fine. But the reality is that models are still not at the “full autonomy” stage yet. They make rookie mistakes, they go down bad architectural paths. I just had the best model in the world add a nonsensical 700ms delay to “settle” something and it told me “you’re right, I was cargo-culting” 🤨 I am on the camp that this need will diminish more and more. Most code is indeed going to be assembly-like. But we also have the global internet and software infrastructure riding on these models and narrative, and we have to respect that.

The commies are out in full force supporting open weights
NVIDIA, Palantir, Replit, Microsoft, Crowdstrike, Dell and others send a strong message to congress to keep open access to open weights models. "Our AI leadership will be judged not by one frontier AI model, but whether the United States builds a strong, open ecosystem that diffuses into every sector." "Open weights also strengthen competition and competition is what keeps the gains of AI broadly shared rather than concentrated in a few hands." "Openness may be one of the most important paths to AI safety and security."

(1) Today we're releasing Muse Spark 1.1 -- a strong agentic and coding model at a very low price. It's available through our new Meta Model API and in Meta AI.

We’ve received notice that the Department of Commerce has lifted export controls on Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5. We'll begin restoring access tomorrow, and will share an update soon. We’re grateful to our users for their patience, and to everyone who worked with us on redeploying the models.
