Here's the @YouTube video of the Research Paper, "Framework for Filipino Equivalents of Flourishing and Eudaimonia: Kahampatan Case with 25-Dimensional Rubric"
Abstract
This paper proposes a conceptual framework to assist researchers in identifying Filipino terms that may align closely with the English concept of flourishing and the Ancient Greek notion of eudai-monia. The framework applies a 25-dimensional rubric to compare semantic overlaps, drawing on an eight-component model from Ayta ethnographies to explore kahampatan as an illustrative case, an Ambala Ayta concept of well-being as a good life (mabuting buhay) rooted in relational harmony with the Creator (Apo Namalyari), self, community, and nature. For illustrative purposes, semantic scoring yields averages of 6.8 for eudaimonia and 8.1 for flourishing relative to kahampatan. Alignments in areas like virtue, purpose, and health are noted, alongside divergences that suggest kahampatan's eco-relational emphasis and cyclical interdependence. Narratives from post-Mt. Pinatubo (1991) resilience and studies on climate/health challenges illustrate potential communal-ecological aspects, which may contrast with individualistic elements in eudaimonia while aligning with Sikolohiyang Pilipino's relational ethics (e.g., kapwa, ginhawa). Analyses of 25 Filipino terms and six proposed neologisms demonstrate the rubric's application for illustrative purposes, suggesting kahampatan as a candidate for consideration in national linguistic discourse. This framework offers utility for researchers in cross-cultural well-being studies, supported by ethnographies and peer-reviewed sources to promote cultural sensitivity and reciprocity. Statistically Improbable Phrases (SIPs): 25-dimensional rubric, Ambala Ayta, Ayta concept, Ayta ethnographies, cross-cultural, cross-cultural research, cross-cultural well-being, dimensional rubric, eco-relational, eco-relational aspects, flourishing and eudaimonia, illustrative case, kahampatan as, overall average, relational harmony, semantic overlap, spiritual connection, well-being

Pretty much.
As of the past few weeks, debt markets have almost entirely shut off access to money for any company that doesn’t have substantial revenue independent of AI data centers.
SpaceX closed $40B of debt for GPUs, but we’re investment grade and have Starlink & launch revenue.
That means the 200+ neoclouds are going to see guppy-level death and consolidation. Some will make it through, but not many.

Turns out Desirae Krawczyk and Alex Eala won’t be playing in the Tokyo doubles after all. 🥲 Des had to pull out due to a back injury. I was really looking forward to seeing this Filipina duo energy!
On the bright side, this means more time for Alex to focus on singles! She’s scheduled to play today at around 4 PM. Let’s go, Alex! Rooting for you! #TokyoOpen #Torayppo

I am back with a few thoughts.
I stopped reading all the trauma logs of mathematicians who recently got impacted by AI. Instead I switched to building a corpus of knowledge for why and how AI is interacting with mathematics.
I teach this term a new course here at Adam Mickiewicz University. It's title is "Computer assisted solutions to mathematical problems". I proposed it because I realized in the last 6 months something important.
A. It makes no sense to grieve the "good old ways". We should study to the bone how mathematics and computers interact. There are three levels: numeric, symbolic and formal.
B. The only way to prepare yourself for the rise of the technology is to understand it well. You cannot understand the progress of AI in mathematics if you don't know how the models are trained on the symbolic representation of mathematical proofs, how the training goes, why specific transformer architectures, reinforcement learning and basically a huge amount of incredible insights gives in practice some new value in mathematics.
C. It is incredibly fun to train your own models (yes I use generative models to help me build training pipelines too, otherwise I would not have enough lifetimes to do so).
D. The AIxMaths space is so incredibly complex - you have these weird, scalable token generating algorithms, recently in agentic form with memory, interactions etc. This is a field of study - we need to understand how it works. On the other hand, mathematics as a field of science is incredibly complex, people do very different kinds of axiomatic theories with their intuitions, tactics and strategies. This was never studied too seriously as a whole. We need to study it deeply.
So I am spending this term gearing up my students and myself for whatever is coming. We don't have any assumptions. I don't claim that models will become better at maths than all of human mathematicians. I don't think it's a good question. We just want to stay in the loop with the developments and see whether we can contribute to the change and see if this can be useful and productive.
I am looking forward to your feedback. The current plan contains the following topics:
- basic distinction between numerical computation, symbolic calculations and formal proofs
- basic understanding of the IEEE 754 standard and things around numerical computations
- how to build your own computer algebra system in Python and why it's so tricky
- why and how proof-checking software is important; we start with the basic principles of such designes, I plan to talk first about the foundations going back to Automath and the foundational work of de Bruijn.
- practical examples spanning real use cases of computer algebra, numerical integration and proofs in Peano arithmetic and how to read languages like Lean
- in the end I want to present some little post-trained models like Qwen which I taught how to do Peano arithmetic better and how they prove statements about this theory; there will be AlphaGeometry too and maybe a bit more about Mizar, Metamath and Lean. Just to give students some scope and perspective.
I plan to continue working on this course into a full book. I think I won't stop until I understand deeply why language models are currently so good at maths. It's something of utmost importance. It's important to see where this might stop and what lies beyond. I personally think these kind of questions will be the most important problems to answer by mathematicians themselves. We shouldn't stop until we find good answers to all of this. Reading AI slop is perhaphs a bit useful, but deep understanding of why it sometimes makes sense is even more challenging.

DFA PUSHES BACK VS OMBUDSMAN’S VISA REMARKS
NEWS UPDATE: The Department of Foreign Affairs on Monday, October 26, issued a statement expressing its strong objection to the call of Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla to remove the DFA’s visa-issuing functions and that the agency has allegedly turned the country’s visa issuance into a business.
“Ombudsman Remulla’s remarks undermine the institutional integrity of the Department and unfairly malign the reputation of the Philippine Foreign Service and its personnel,” the statement read.

Unchecked Vaults, Unchecked Conscience
Associate Justice Amy Lazaro‑Javier’s concurring opinion is a warning shot: Congress has subverted the nation’s economic and constitutional stability. Though lawmakers hold the “power of the purse,” they are barred from breaching the spending ceiling set by the President’s National Expenditure Program.
What was meant to be a contingent safety valve has been transformed into an unchecked vault — a weaponized buffer that erodes fiscal discipline and public trust.
Unprogrammed funds were never meant to be political currency. They are statutory standby lines, unlocked only when the nation earns unexpected revenue or secures new foreign loans. To twist them into parallel budgets is to betray the covenant of accountability.
But this moment is not just about numbers. It is about character. Doing right when it costs nothing is easy. The true test comes when truth demands sacrifice — when standing for integrity risks privilege, comfort, or power.
In the crossroads of politics and conscience, many choose camouflage. Yet integrity is not negotiable. It is forged in silence, when temptation whispers and conscience resists.
This is a defining moment. Never give up on righteousness, even when compromise is rewarded. The truth may cost you, but it will never bankrupt your soul.

Beijing is not preparing to storm Taiwan. It is rehearsing how to strangle it, and the first island chain has just answered.
The Blockade Is Already Being Drilled
The sharpest signal this month came from a coast guard cutter, not a warship. On October 20, a China Coast Guard vessel entered restricted waters off Taiwan's Dongsha Island, concealed its track, and radioed that the Republic of China does not exist before Taiwan's coast guard drove it off. It was the 12th such expulsion at Dongsha this year. Two days earlier, the CCP sent 12 coast guard and research vessels and four fishing boats to probe waters east and south of Taiwan and around Dongsha.
In Taipei, Randall Schriver, chairman of the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission, called the patrols east of Taiwan the most worrying development he has seen recently, an extension of lawfare, political warfare and information warfare. The logic is plain. Coast guard hulls, militia trawlers and research ships let Beijing manufacture jurisdiction it does not possess and rehearse a quarantine while staying below the threshold that triggers a military response.
The Chain Is Built to Fight on Day One
The allied reply is no longer symbolic. Keen Sword 27, running October 19 to 29, is the largest US-Japan exercise to date, with roughly 45,000 Japanese and 12,000 American personnel, and France, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand and the Philippines joining for the first time. US Marines placed the NMESIS anti-ship system on Yonaguni, about 110 kilometers from Taiwan, and HIMARS on Ishigaki. Japan deployed its Type 25 anti-ship missile, with a range near 1,000 kilometers, outside Kumamoto for the first time. The design is explicit: firepower ready on day one, not reinforcements summoned across the Pacific after the fact.
Philippine Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. has said geography makes neutrality impossible for Manila if Taiwan is attacked. That is Beijing's miscalculation in one sentence. Coercion meant to isolate Taipei is binding its neighbors into a single front.
Strangulation Is a Confession
The gray-zone campaign also exposes weakness. Purges that removed a defense minister and a former Rocket Force commander have dragged on readiness, and Reuters reported on October 1 that US officials see a full invasion before 2028 as increasingly unlikely. A Party that cannot trust its generals, and cannot lift enough troops across the strait, is betting on strangulation over invasion.
That makes the gray zone the main front, not a sideshow. The test for Washington, Tokyo and Taipei is whether they contest it at sea as deliberately as they now prepare for the war Beijing is trying to avoid.

Correct.
Using Starlink, a civilian commercial service, for offensive drone strikes to kill people has never been allowed, nor should it be.
Starshield, a different system, is controlled by the US government. What they decide to do is up to them.
Ukraine military violated Starlink terms of service and used it for offensive drone strikes to kill people. That loophole was closed last week.
Starlink remains critical to the defense of Ukraine, as it is the only system that cannot be jammed or blown up, at least for now. Were Starlink to be turned off, the Ukrainian front line would collapse immediately. This is NOT a threat, it is simply a statement of fact.
Starlink was also crucial to preventing Russia from overrunning Ukraine in the early days of the war, as all other means of communication were destroyed or jammed by Russia.
SpaceX has done more to defend Ukraine than any private company on Earth BY FAR.
That said, I have nothing but UTTER CONTEMPT for the virtue-signaling evil warmongers who push for endless slaughter and offer no realistic solution to the conflict. May you burn in hell.
End of story.
