Media mogul John Malone made the call today at the Paley International Council Summit. He cited the existing financial ties between Musk and Larry Ellison (David Ellison’s father and a major Skydance backer).
Ellison helped finance Musk’s purchase of Twitter/X, and Tesla stock was used to help fund Skydance’s growth. Skydance just closed its roughly $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros.
Discovery earlier this month and is carrying about $80 billion in debt. Malone said he expects “a global output deal for Skydance with SpaceX, and an investment by SpaceX into Skydance, to delever Skydance and take a little bit of the burden off David Ellison’s shoulders.”
No deal has been confirmed, and Malone did not claim negotiations are already underway—he simply predicted one is coming. Earlier reporting had already floated Musk as a possible equity investor in the combined company.
Versant and AMC Global Media laid out their playbooks for offsetting linear decline at the Paley International Council Summit. One is building consumer-brand verticals, the other is rethinking end-to-end streaming distribution.

Media mogul John Malone said he expects a deal between Skydance and Elon Musk’s SpaceX, potentially involving an $8 billion–$10 billion investment by SpaceX in Skydance alongside a global distribution agreement. Speaking at the Paley International Council Summit in New York, Malone said the investment could help reduce Skydance’s debt and ease the financial burden on CEO David Ellison.
Malone pointed to the longstanding financial relationship between Musk and Larry Ellison, Oracle’s co-founder and David Ellison’s father. Larry Ellison helped finance Musk’s acquisition of Twitter and used Tesla shares to support his investment in Skydance. Malone said he would not be surprised if an announcement came soon.
Skydance completed its all-cash acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery earlier this month, bringing CNN and HBO under its ownership. However, its shares have declined since the deal closed as investors worry about the combined company’s nearly $87 billion debt burden.

Could Starlink become a gateway for Hollywood content? John Malone predicts SpaceX and Skydance may strike a deal worth as much as $10 billion.
The potential partnership could give SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service a foothold in Hollywood content distribution while providing financial backing to Skydance, which is navigating a substantial debt load and the integration of two major media companies.

Sony and Take-Two CEOs, Hiroki Totoki and Strauss Zelnick, respectively, made statements regarding AI in gaming during Paley International Summit🚀
✅Totoki believes AI will not replace human developers because creativity is uniquely human, though he encourages using AI workflows while protecting creators' rights.
✅Zelnick argues that AI itself won't replace developers, but developers who use AI will replace those who don't.
✅Zelnick notes that AI relies on backward-looking datasets and algorithms, whereas true creativity is forward-looking and produces unexpected hits (e.g., Home Alone).
✅Both PlayStation and Take-Two utilize AI to streamline internal workflows (though Take-Two confirmed AI is not being used to develop GTA 6).
✅The push for AI faces strong resistance from both players and developers due to concerns over job security, copyright issues, and creative quality.

Two of the worst figures in gaming, who are participating for the most anti-consumer policies and changes in the industry are trying to polish their image with pure PR talk that can never be trusted.
They’re trying to deflect from ending physical media by pandering to developers and reassuring them they won’t replace them with AI, when Sony ruined so many studios’ and developers’ future this generation by forcing live service development, and now pushing to end physical media to capitalize on profits at the expense of player ownership, agency and options.
Shame on both of them for ruining this generation and the future of gaming, no matter how many good games they make, and how fun are to us, this doesn’t change their morally bankrupt approach and their hypocrisy like Zelnick saying physical games “don’t make sense” and equating them to listening to music from vinyl, only to release 11 physical releases including more than 8 vinyl variants for GTA6 soundtracks.
This tells you all you need to know about the trustworthiness of these people.
