Shocking neglect and abuse of retired Lt Col Stephen Maguire DCM SAS, a natural born leader of men who spent 40 years in service to his country, and his son's long fight for justice. Please share Ben's post widely: "My father, Retired Lt Col Stephen Maguire DCM SAS, is a man who spent nearly 40 years in dedicated service to this country, serving from 1970 until 2009. He is a natural leader, a decorated soldier, to those who served with him. However, he has been completely abandoned and betrayed by the very system he gave everything to. I am fighting for justice for my father. This struggle is a mirror of my own life; my own journey marked by the negligence of MPs, charities, and veteran services which led me to the absolute rock bottom of homelessness as a veteran myself. I know exactly what it is like to be discarded by the people who promised to provide support. After years of fighting, we finally have a pathway toward the right care, but the damage is already done. The sheer scale of the failings along the way has crippled a man who likely only suffered from PTSD. What should have been a manageable recovery became a total collapse because of institutional incompetence. This isn't a failure of one person or one office it is a systemic rot. For too long, the UK government, regardless of which side of the fence they sit on, has played a political game with the lives of our veterans. Whether it is Labour or the Conservatives, the result is the same: service men are treated as assets when they are useful and as liabilities the moment they are broken. We are told our sacrifices are "remembered," but the reality is that once the uniform comes off, the care vanishes. We sought help for my dad, worried about PTSD and dementia resulting from his service. Through the SAS Association and Veterans’ Aid, he was referred to various healthcare facilities. Instead of professional care, he found negligence from these referrals. In the last few years alone, he has been through multiple institutions that have failed him. We've dealt with incorrect diagnoses, doctors who tried to push him out of their care because he was "too difficult," and the removal of life-saving medication that led to him being sectioned under the Mental Health Act. He was sedated and left to decline without specialist care. His PTSD was completely ignored, and his medical history was dismissed. In one instance, he was admitted to the hospital due to low sodium caused by the excessive use of anti-psychotic medication. The most infuriating part is the silence from the top. MPs have explicitly ignored this situation and failed to act for a Lt Col in 22 SAS. The "Military Covenant" is nothing more than a piece of paper used for photo opportunities while men like my father are left to rot. The system has failed. The NHS has failed. Veteran charities have failed. From the MOD passing the buck to the medical incompetence of the facilities, my father has been abandoned like thousands of others. I am posting this because we need accountability. It is not enough to simply "help" now; there must be justice for the way he was treated. My father spent four decades looking after his men and serving at the highest level for the United Kingdom; it is a national disgrace that the government failed to look after him and many like him. Do not listen to the rhetoric the government continues to push. As this is an example of what happens after 40 years of dedicated service. Please share this. We need the people in power to answer for this. We need leaders who actually lead, not politicians who just talk." facebook.com/story.php?story… bobshepherdauthor.com/2023/1…

Thankyou @ShippersUnbound and @spectator for the chance to discuss : SAS witch hunt: is Britain betraying its own special forces? shows.acast.com/68359028e1ab… via @acast Those that willingly conduct and direct this damaging witch hunt against the SAS are acting in the interest of our many enemies. They weaken not just the Special Forces, but the whole of the national defence system and its essential ability to execute or threaten lethal force against those that seek to destroy or damage us. It represents an act of national self-harm as damaging and serious as the suicidal act of unilateral disarmament would be in the face of actual military invasion. Utter madness….

A country cannot survive if it targets the leader of its bravest defenders. We don’t know how lucky we are to have the SAS - because they don’t tell us how many lives they save or how dangerous the work they do. The rot runs very deep.
EXCLUSIVE: The commanding officer of the SAS was placed under criminal investigation and referred to prosecutors over anti-ISIS mission in Syria. Unprecedented move concerned police request for classified evidence, but effort to charge him collapsed thetimes.com/uk/defence/arti…

Powerful, damning words from former Commander of the SAS 👇 Is this really a good time to undermine our bravest, most brilliant fighting unit? The SAS are viewed with awe by our friends and our enemies. Allies cannot believe they are being treated in this appalling manner.
Read this powerful article by @thetimes , and reflect on what has been shared.. This is not just “persecution by (extremely clumsy) process” imposed upon active-duty SAS operators fighting to detain vicious ISIS thugs in an active war zone, but also an example of performative self-immolation initiated by the most senior UK Special Forces officer at the time (G Jenkins) as self-serving exercise in what HE calls ‘transparency’…… So, if someone, anyone (quite possibly an enemy) within an active war zone says the SAS killed an unarmed man, then the so-called ‘senior leaders’ (some, as in this case, with near-zero combat experience) within the Whitehall-based ‘UK system’ desperate to demonstrate something that they call ‘transparency’ (or whatever else floats the MOD’s boat), will automatically launch an aggressive RMP operation to detain the SAS men involved…. Not on the basis of any hard evidence (there is no crime scene, no bodies, no bullets etc), but purely on distant, uncorroborated hearsay and remote, delayed analysis of operational reports; all supported by desk-bound, chinless leaders that seemingly care more about how they will (personally) look in an MOD promotion board than trying to properly understand the circumstances faced by the SAS men and defend them accordingly. What a gift this utterly pathetic weakness, low threshold investigative process and twisted self-defeating system gives to our many enemies….and what an awful message it sends to those that still volunteer to fight on our all of our behalves….

Dame Edna casually tells Conan she travels with a gynecologist instead of bodyguards, then explains she hired Julio Iglesias’s father for the job after interviewing him. She adds that his hand shakes a little, but “that’s not necessarily a disadvantage,” and that he’s currently in the green room going through the gift basket. Conan just sits there trying to stay professional while the story keeps getting worse. The best part is how completely unbothered she is about the whole thing. She drops the line like it’s a normal detail about her staff, then moves on. Most hosts would have steered the conversation somewhere safer. Conan doesn’t quite manage it, and the bit is better for it.
The Young Sheldon cast is getting roasted over their birth years, and some of these answers make you realize how much time has passed! 😂😭 We watched these characters grow up on screen, but seeing their real ages puts everything into perspective. Some of them look exactly how you’d expect, while others might genuinely surprise you. 👀

A farm which runs an egg honesty box in Maynooth in Co. Kildare, have taken to social media to upload a video of thieves taking a number of trays of eggs without paying for them. Dunne's Farm Pastured Eggs took to social media to make people aware of the thieves and post said the following: "This week on “People pretending to be honest” "2 more vermin who have been hitting us quite regularly. But this time we have the proof. "We know you live in Clonee and only we are to busy to call and on you and collect either the money or claim the produce back….. "I bet your husband will be mortified when he sees this🤭 "We think ah good shaming is in order! "In fact the daughters egg carrying ability is worthy of a job! We would be thankful if you shared so we could get a name for these two. "They aren’t welcome back at Dunne’s farm and be sure to remind them if you see them🕵️ "For the record… When we post these videos, "We’re not looking for pity, sympathy or anything of the sort. "We run a farm, we work hard, and unfortunately there will always be a certain type of people who think it’s perfectly acceptable to take what doesn’t belong to them. "We just happen to believe that in a fair and honest world, dishonest behaviour should have consequences — and sometimes a little public embarrassment is one of them". 📹 @Dunnesfarmeggs

How the Polish Broke Enigma | From Poznań to Pyry One of the questions we’re asked most often is: “Why don’t you talk about the Polish role in breaking Enigma?” The story of Enigma codebreaking did not begin at Bletchley Park and it’s a story we tell across our site. Polish mathematicians Marian Rejewski, Jerzy Różycki and Henryk Zygalski made the first breakthroughs against Enigma, laying the foundations for the Allied codebreaking effort that followed. In this video, we explore the remarkable story of how Polish intelligence and cryptanalysts helped crack one of the most secure cipher systems of its time, from Poznań to the Pyry meeting. Almost all of these joyful young women were so savagely butchered on October 7th by Hamas devils they were not in a fit state to be shown to their parents. A nose ring the only thing left in a face without a face. A knife all the way through a head. Genitals … you don’t want to know. If we can’t name evil when it so clearly identifies itself then who are we? Go on, march for that.

Another Pole who gave his life trying to save Jews during the Holocaust. Witold Zacharewicz, a Polish film actor, was arrested by the Gestapo on 1 October 1942 for helping Jews, including by producing false documents for those hiding in Warsaw. He was deported to the German concentration camp at Auschwitz in November 1942 and murdered a couple of months later, reportedly by an injection of phenol into the heart. Excellent podcast on "Lawfare" and its impact on UK Armed Forces. Trying to explain the military & in my case diplomatic world to Judges who have no idea what you are referring to, is a complete nightmare as I discovered in the Kosovo War Crimes Tribunal last year.

It would be my pleasure to suggest some cardigans. This thread will include a range of options, including some that stretch our imagination of what a cardigan can look like. It will also include tips on how to repair moth-ridden clothes. And find cheaper alternatives. 🧵
