That bootstrap test was on mainnet, Nano runs on basic consumer hardware, and is decentralized. The lack of smart contract support is intentional - there's no desire for non-money usecases to compete with Nano's core hard money usecase:

~38 hours for ~150M blocks, 72-96 hours on mainnet:

TBD on mainnet with all cementing functions enabled, but here are the test results. 200M+ blocks in 7 hours:

Piotr's been working on an improved bootstrap strategy that could massively improve bootstrap times for Nano
Local test net results: ~5 hours for a full bootstrap, ~10K BPS
Something like this may also improve mainnet max CPS, since out of sync nodes can resync more quickly 馃憖
Looks like Ricki & Piotr have been working on a potential implementation for Colin's split block table proposal 馃憖
If fully implemented, this could bring ~50% disk savings (on LMDB), and a significant speed up for slow storage (especially non-SSDs) 馃敟
