Elissa Slotkin has once again proven she has no morals. She’s now calling for political prosecutions so young people will be too scared to work for a Republican administration. She previously committed sedition by telling military personnel to disobey orders from Trump. Having faced no legal consequences, she’s been emboldened to promote further treachery. On Friday at the University of Chicago, Slotkin said she wants planned cases against Trump administration figures to create a deterrence effect. She wants young people coming out of school to think working for a Trump administration “might be buying myself a ton of problems that I don’t want, and so let me avoid participating in that.” She called it the deterrence message she wants. This is textbook lawfare, just like what she did with the military was textbook sedition. The goal isn’t simply punishing proven crimes. It’s making association with the wrong side so costly that fewer people will even try. Slotkin has previously talked about an “Iron Broom” cleanup of Trump officials and named specific people she wants held accountable. Now she’s explaining that part of the point is to scare the next generation away from getting involved. This is egomaniacal tyrant speak. It’s dangerous because it seeks to silence discussion and open thought. What Slotkin promotes is never accountability. It’s chaos and abuse. She undermines the chain of command and then weaponizes the justice system to shrink the other side. And she does so proudly. Slotkin doesn’t have all the answers. So she acts to silence others so that she’s never questioned. That close-mindedness is a true sign of mental weakness and it’s un-American. A democracy doesn’t work if one side treats prosecutions as a tool to thin out the other side’s talent pool. Slotkin is describing a strategy that treats political participation itself as something that should carry personal legal risk if you pick the wrong team. That’s an attack on free political involvement, not a defense of the rule of law. If a Republican senator said they wanted prosecutions to scare young Democrats out of government, the reaction would be immediate and fierce. There’d be nationwide calls for resignation. But Slotkin said it and almost nobody will care. It’s become the norm for Democrat politicians to encourage lawfare as a substitute for positive policy for America. Accountability is important. What Slotkin is proposing is a form of intimidation that scares young people into silence. She got away with sedition so she keeps making her radical statements. This is the price of Republicans never making her face real accountability.
