This is my one sentence autobiography.
What I thought was a plot problem turned out to be a character problem. #5amwritersclub #amwriting #shortstory
Great dispatch from the Maine town where I grew up. I remember as a kid freaking out when JAWS was released and my mom telling me there were no great white sharks at Scarborough Beach. If she’d lived to see the day…
Maine Public interviewed me for their monthly book club and our conversation ranged from Maine vigilantes to Walmart fashion to KGB generals. youtu.be/Ygna3jon7xM?is=gC_o…
I can’t count the number of times I’ve stood in this water up to my waist casting to striped bass
Officials confirmed a local fisherman's sighting of two juvenile great white sharks in Scarborough Tuesday. newscentermaine.com/article/…

My 16th Mike Bowditch novel, STORM TIDE, publishes this Tuesday, June 30, and I'll be kicking off my book tour that same morning at Left Bank Books in Belfast, Maine. From there it's on to Portland, Portsmouth, Phoenix, Houston, Cambridge, and beyond. pauldoiron.com
The STORM TIDE book tour begins on publication day, June 30, in Belfast, ME, and then heads south, west, and back east again. Writing novels is mostly a solitary business, so getting out into the world and meeting readers is one of my favorite parts of the job.

There are many surreal moments in the career of an author but one of the most mind-blowing is when you see new novels coming out from other writers and their marketing materials compare them to *your* books.
After sixteen novels—the new one, STORM TIDE, comes out 6/30–I can confidently say that Mike Bowditch has gotten around #maine.
My mentor, the late John N. Cole, once gave me a writing tip. “I don’t write to be read,” he said, “I write so I can’t possibly be misread.” Great advice for journalism. Less so for fiction, where the reader helps give the story its meaning.
P.D. James used the term detective fiction—not crime fiction or mysteries—for her work, and it’s my preferred term for the books I write as well.
And he enjoyed visiting you.
I had a really great time visiting my old friend Mike Bowditch in Maine. Storm Tide by @pauldoiron is out in stores later this year. goodreads.com/review/show/78…
AI generated graphics and memes have been a thing for how long—not even a year? I’m already sick of them.
