I spend a lot of time online. This means a few things:
1) I'm familiar with the phrase "go touch grass".
2) I need to go touch some fucking grass.
3) I'm shocked that the domain touchinggrass.co.uk was available!
New blog: touchinggrass.co.uk/an-intro…
This will be my new #Blog for #Photography, #Rambling, #Hiking and personal updates, allowing me to refocus my other site exclusively on the software, open source and tech policy stuff.
You can find me at the following non-hellsite locations:

I don't expect to post on here much more.
If the Open Source Initiative insists on publishing an Open Source AI definition, the definition must require Open Source AI Systems to include the release of complete corresponding training data under an open license.
🧵5/6
This choice also calls into question the purpose of the definition, and may lead to a loss of respect for the existing Open Source definition.
🧵4/6
Unfortunately, I don't think that this is a good definition in its current form. By requiring "data information" instead of the complete corresponding training data, the definition cannot achieve its stated goals.
🧵3/6
The @OpenSourceOrg have published a release candidate version of their Open Source AI Definition (opensource.org/deepdive/draf…) and I expect that a version 1.0 release will be published soon.

I will be at @oggcamp in Manchester on 12th-13th Oct.
Message me if you'll be there and want to chat Yocto, U-Boot, Linux kernel or anything vaguely related. Especially early-mid career or hobbyists looking to do more open source work in these areas.

Must be some good folk in that corner of Nottingham!
Song of the day, in honour of 14 years of Tory governance.

This is not a house of amateurs.
This is done with full intent.
I live in a safe Labour seat so I'm free to vote Green without the risk of the Tories or Reform getting a seat. But for anyone in a seat with a real risk of a Tory/Reform win, I strongly advocate for tactical voting, even if you feel you need to take a shower afterwards!
I'd still rather be fighting a Labour government than a Tory government. I still think the outcomes for vulnerable people will be better under a Labour government than a Tory government.
To be clear: Fuck Keir Starmer's Labour. Fuck their transphobic bullshit. Fuck their appeasement of the right on immigration. Fuck their complete lack of solutions to the problems we face.
You can hold your nose and vote for someone, then immediately get back to work holding them to account and protesting against them as needed.
I see a vote as a pragmatic action. I don't have to trust the person or party I vote for, or even like them. They just have to be the choice most likely to lead to a better outcome for the people I care about, based on how other people are expected to vote.
We have a broken electoral system (first past the post wasn't even considered good enough for student society elections when I was in university) and traditonally the liberal/left votes have split more than the right vote (though Reform have changed that this year).
