No AI lab has a moat. Not OpenAI, not Anthropic, not Google. Leadership decays on a half-life measured in weeks, and now the race includes who IPOs first. Here's why 'moat' is the wrong word for what's happening in AI, and how to actually position for it: open.substack.com/pub/hedgeh…
The biggest worry of this new trump presidency is not himself, who’ll kick the bucket before the end of his term, if not before the start. But him bringing musk, a extremist corrupting influence, into the network of corruptible politicians. In Italy Berlusconi was a mix of both.

Start the week with Andy Serkis, the voice of Gollum, reading some Trump tweets as Gollum 🤣

Trump's tariff talk is so economically and mathematically illiterate that no sentient being should take it seriously. But sadly, some people do.
For them, @scottlincicome very patiently walks through how tariffs work, and how Trump's idea would not.

Replying to @climacritic

🚨 OMG Ralph Baric just confirmed everything I and others have been saying about DEFUSE for years! Including validation with live full length viruses. Moreover, he mentions feline coronavirus as the rationale for studying FCSes! And SARS2 looks the final product of his description — it has the “knocked out” version of the FIPV FCS, exactly the PRRAR found in several FIPV strains published in a 2013 paper about the role of FCS mutations in FIPV pathogenicity. This is a 💣
1/ Baric on DEFUSE:
"We were fundamentally interested in why sarbecoviruses didn't have a furin cleavage site" (P 193-194)
🙂This "fundamental" question turned out to have an amazingly simple answer...
