I have worked on Ebola outbreaks for more than 30 years. I have never stopped feeling the weight of each life lost.
Yesterday I stood before more than 40 African Ministers and said what the data tells us: we are not winning so far. 10,172 confirmed cases. 4,932 people gone.
I said it live and in the open. That is the only way to fight an outbreak like this.
What gives me hope is that no Minister looked away. Together, we agreed to prepare every country, coordinate across our borders and keep those borders open while watching them closely. Our partners are standing behind Africa’s plan.
Ebola anywhere in Africa demands preparedness everywhere in Africa. We will get there, together.

Maybe some of you knew about those but it's the first time I've come across them and it blew my mind.
So we're on a beach in the Philippines and we kept seeing these egg-like green balls in the seagrass. At first I thought they were plastic because they looked kind of like plastic toy capsules.
But there were so many of them all over the beach that either some kid had lost the biggest toy collection in history, or something else was going on.
So I checked and turns out they're called "Sailor's Eyeballs" (Valonia ventricosa) and each one is a single-celled organism, one of the largest on earth. Yup, that's one cell: the "plastic" shell is its cell wall, and everything inside is made of nuclei and cell sap.
I never knew cells could get that big, I always assumed - wrongly, it turns out - that all cells were microscopic. You learn everyday!
Baddie behaviour ❤️ Tiwa baby

Footage shows healthcare workers singing and dancing at an Ebola treatment centre in DR Congo after the last patient made a full recovery and left.
The Doctors Without Borders-run centre in Mongbwalu was where the latest outbreak began.
Incredible celebrations as last patient leaves a DRC Ebola centre

Bruh, when i die, don’t bury me in my house.
I don’t vibe with such culture. Everything i own goes to my wife and son. Whatever she intends doing with the property we both worked for is up to her.
There is a cemetery. Bury me there or get my ashes after all i was created from dust.
We put so much energy on things that don’t matter ‼️
Typical

Achebe was living with independent women at the time he wrote these books.
Much of his time was spent in the company of Flora Nwapa and Buchi Emecheta. They wrote books with same kind of titles.
I noticed that most of female characters in Achebe’s later novels were girlfriends that got pregnant which says a lot about how African society was changing after colonialism. In Things Fall Apart, marriage was central to family and tradition. Okonkwo had many of them and lorded it over them. But in No Longer at Ease and Anthills of the Savannah, relationships become more complicated.
The women in the later works had their own ambitions, opinions and identities. Take Clara, Obi Okonkwo’s girlfriend in No Longer at Ease for example. She is an educated nurse with her own career, when she became pregnant and suffered abortion complications, she ended her relationship with Obi.
Then there is Elewa, Ikem Osodi’s girlfriend in Anthills of the Savannah. She is unmarried and pregnant when Ikem is killed, but Achebe didn't portray her as helpless.
What I find particularly interesting, or rather curious, is that Achebe allowed these women to exist beyond the men they love.
Thank you jare
This Toluwanisings matter dey sad me.
See how T'aja T'eran dey chuck mouth. Tiktok live is all about him, everywhere blame game.
Young man go hustle from scratch, against all odds achieve something for himself and family. When death comes. Everybody is talking about property!
No one is talking about the children 🥺
Those elders are shameless & not thinking at all.
If you bury the guy in his house what implications would that have on the property?
What if the wife decides to rent out the house & use the proceeds to pay for her children education.
My concern is the children, dot hinder their opportunity for support (income from the house).
They should sit down with the wife and discuss the future of their children.
They should stop granting interviews to bloggers and content creators... It's making a mess of everything.
It's sad to loose a loved one.. it's sadder that it's become a general trend everyone is voicing on.
Also men pls as you're making progress in life, make your children the main beneficiary to your things.
Some family people are shameless.
I pray untimely death will not be our portion.
Until this young widow comes to harm the vampiric twats masquerading as lovers of fake tradition will be as restless as salted worms
May she be protected. May the satanic nastiness wash over her. May those young children be raised to University and beyond by her hands
Monsters
I made this ring years ago!!!

#JasonArday has been cleared of plagiarism for a fourth time. Why is the media silent about it?
As another investigation ends without substantiating plagiarism claims, @richardsudan asks who will hold the British media accountable for its treatment of the pioneering Black academic?👇🏿

They’re always shocked to find out that pple in the US are not as obsessed about Meghan as they are. No reputable outlet in the US is churning out an average of 10 stories everyday about M like they do in the UK. There’re no morning shows/podcasts set up expressly to talk about M

The problem with the UK media bubble is that it’s so used to setting the narrative and having minions play along that it can’t handle an actual disruptor who exists outside the bubble. They had no counter just the same tired narrative everyone knows and nobody believes
I don't have a clue who this guy is, but it's wild how he took all four of them down by himself! Mad respect to him! 🤯🔥 teapaw.org/AsEverSussex/status/21…
