I think one of the harshest lessons crypto investors are going to learn is that the industry can become incredibly successful without the average person making any money. We could see trillions of dollars in tokenised assets, widespread stablecoin adoption, banks integrating blockchain technology and some of the largest financial institutions in the world building onchain, yet the overwhelming majority of retail portfolios could still be sitting underwater. People have spent years convincing themselves that mass adoption will eventually translate into higher prices for the tokens they own, but very few are actually questioning whether those tokens capture any of the economic value being created. The technology can succeed, the companies building on it can make billions and the institutions can benefit enormously, all while the people who funded the speculation are left holding assets nobody needs. What if we've been right about the future of crypto all along, but completely wrong about who actually profits from it?
