“The catalyst for ‘Don’t Give Up’ was a photograph I saw by Dorothea Lange (Migrant Mother), in the book ‘In This Proud Land’, which showed the dust-bowl conditions during the Great Depression in America. Without a climate of self-esteem it’s impossible to function” - pg
Don't Give Up was released 40 years ago #onthisday as the second single from Peter's album 'So'. It features the guest vocals of Kate Bush.
it should be noted the next international window is in two weeks & I wonder if during that time we'll get both, another new United manager hire AND the annoucement of the City punishment decision?
my fandom, while admittedly adopted, it dates back to the 90's. it's been "bad on repeat" for a decide now, but fwiw, I never, ever thought I'd see/hear this. The view on live TV, of the stands to the players' right was stunning, stunning stuff.
I keep forgetting but in production of this season of Amazon’s “All or Nothing” (PL’s version of Hard Knocks) is shooting at ManUtd. 😶
And each time it comes back to me, I can’t tell if I’m thrilled to witness the carnage or if I’d rather watch my own surgical video.
It will be (insert your prefered adjective
here) when next season Manchester’s City and United are both relegated, plying their games in the Championship - for wildly different but equally deserving reasons.
The entirety of last season’s run was built on three things: fixing the obvious, a light schedule & Bruno being on a heater.
There was all kinds of redflags to keeping Carrick but they also couldn’t fairly deny him.
So, Bruno going flat + poor window = here they are.
Since the 23/24 season, United is 1-2-1 at home(!) v Bournemouth, who are actually behind in the table but can leap ahead w/ an equally much needed win. So now the 2 sides of the “Bruno problem”: he’s both too improv for a team system but also the single source of playmaking 🫣
