🚨BREAKING🚨 PENN POLICE RAID PRO-PALESTINE STUDENTS’ HOME
On Friday, October 18th at 6am, 12 Penn Police officers and one PPD officer raided the home of pro-Palestine student organizers in full tactical gear and pointed rifles and handguns at the students.

Remember that Biden laid the groundwork for the Trump regime by facilitating the violent repression of student organizing. The neoliberal university, a microcosm of American empire, has never been a “safe space”.
Reminder that Jeffrey Goldberg left Penn early to be a prison guard for the IOF. His role at the Atlantic has played into the broader narrative of manufacturing consent for genocide.
American war planning usually takes place in highly secure facilities. But the Trump administration planned its strikes on the Houthis using a group chat—and accidentally included The Atlantic’s editor in chief, @JeffreyGoldberg. theatlantic.com/politics/arc…

NO HOMECOMING DURING GENOCIDE
While Penn students and alumni celebrate Homecoming weekend, we are reminded of the Palestinians whose homes have been ethnically cleansed and continue to fight for their right to return.

On October 18th, several University of Pennsylvania police officers dressed in SWAT gear served a search warrant on a West Philadelphia home outside of the University of Pennsylvania Police Department’s (UPPD) patrol district. The warrant was issued for suspicion of vandalism, following red paint being thrown on a statue on Penn’s campus last month.
My office does not condone any type of crime and supports a thorough investigation of the statue's defacement. However, I am appalled that the University served a search warrant against their students for a nonviolent incident while in full tactical gear.
Although the warrant was acquired through proper channels, that process does not dictate how the warrant will be served. Leaders at the University of Pennsylvania decided to use violent and aggressive tactics, and I unequivocally condemn this choice.
I understand that UPPD may have to operate outside of their patrol zone to investigate crimes that happened on their campus. However, we cannot lose sight of the fact that the West Philadelphia community has a long and tense history with the University of Pennsylvania, and the operation on Friday the 13th is a direct echo of that dynamic.
If UPPD insists on conducting operations outside of its catchment area, it must do so with the same level of accountability and transparency we expect from the Philadelphia Police Department and all of our law enforcement partners.
If the University of Pennsylvania is serious about making West Philly a more vibrant, resilient, and safer place to live, it must not allow its private police force to behave so rashly again. I call on University leadership to investigate how this disproportionate response occurred and publish their findings.

We are appalled by the recent armed police raid on students and by the central administration’s ongoing and escalating political repression of protest. You can read the EC’s statement here aaup-penn.org/statement-of-t…

Yalile Suriel, expert on the militarization of campus police forces, said that “she could not recall another case like this focussed solely on vandalism.”
Penn’s making unprecedented moves in the history of campus policing in attempt to suppress the Student Intifada.
Penn sent officers to raid a pro-Palestinian activist house off campus. They said it was in connection with a vandalism investigation. inquirer.com/education/upenn…
That’s because they’re all responsible. They all served different but necessary roles in conducting the 6am police raid on students protesting genocide. Shame on Penn, PPD, and Krasner for refusing to take accountability for this act of terror.

I was horrified to learn that Penn Police violently raided the home of pro-Palestinian student organizers early Friday morning, as they were sleeping.
It is unacceptable that officers armed with tactical gear and assault rifles threatened the safety of unarmed young people.
This is Penn’s most egregious escalation in its campaign to silence anti-genocide activists. Read more on our instagram statement instagram.com/p/DBZ_lMDJybB/…
