Perena is now willing to underwrite GPU financing as a yield source.
"We've passed on a lot of specialty financing deals, including a lot of niche ones, like water rights, film rights, music rights. You can probably finance literally anything."
"And then I recently, got into the world of GPU financing. That is more similar to data center, energy, mining financing, or back in the day, there was BTC miner financing."

AI is beating digital assets in its own turf: financing.
We structured a 20% APY deal on GPU financing and I wanted to cross reference the deal with operators across compute, GPUs, data center, and energy.
RWA tokenization is running at turtle speed compared to AI finance.
Unanimously everyone said they need more compute, and getting it online means lining up hardware, power, cooling and financing. Those conversations have made me more bullish on GPU financing.
I initially saw GPUs as expensive hardware that depreciates quickly. I now have a better appreciation for the cash flow that hardware can generate for the next few years.
Factors to consider: depreciation, operator, utilization/rates, and cost of capital.
But I believe there is an attractive window where demand supports earning back capital through productive use.
The AI economy is maturing at godspeed where pain points a few months ago may no longer be true today. For example the lag between data center completion to GPUs running has compressed. The depreciation of GPUs decreased (even reversed) due to instiable hardware demand.
Importantly, the barrier to entry isn't sky high numbers you see on headlines, Just like shopping malls, data centers have anchor tenants but are also open to much smaller units of GPUs.
We've also chosen to structure this product largely offchain.
Until the day when compute is being paid via stablecoins (which will come), traditional legal agreements eliminate smart contract risks while we figure out how to best structure this asset into an accessible product like USD*.

Perena is dropping our gold checkmark on X and filing a chargeback on the unethical practices of @PremiumBusiness.
After multiple rounds of back and forth, we've failed to achieve a resolution on X's bot activities and fake metrics. We raised these issues with a few of our X reps (they keep changing due to turnover). We explained our situation of lost ad credits due to lack of customer support via chat, email, calls, and reached no conclusion.
In the dozens of emails we've exchanged, our @X rep confirmed that we would get downgraded this month. Today, we got charged again.
We are active with organic followers on Instagram, LinkedIn, and we publish our macro and portfolio commentary on our own blog page.
Please stay vigilant during this time as we might lose our @perena handle, despite X's email confirmation (which they keep reneging on). We will keep official communications via LinkedIn, Instagram, and our official website.

What do you do with dollars between trades?
We took a closer look at @perena USD*, which combines hedged trading, lending and real-world asset strategies in one Solana token. The appeal is straightforward: earning on dollars while you wait for your next opportunity.
Its reported token price gained 2.11% over the 90 days to September 14. But returns are only part of the decision. Position size, available liquidity and the risks behind the yield matter just as much.
Our illustrated brief walks through the returns, audits and exit mechanics, with examples for smaller deposits and fund-sized allocations. Here is what we would check before putting capital to work:

Someone asked me how is Perena different from Morpho and other curated lending vaults.
"Vault" is an overloaded word, so let me explain.
Perena is allocation infrastructure. Capital routes through a segregated vault directly into the strategy the allocator has selected and diligenced, so the allocator earns the strategy's full return, less a visible infrastructure fee, with mandate, reporting, and liquidity terms fixed upfront.
A Perena vault is more akin to a fund or SPV setup with known terms, counterparties, and fixed bounds around portfolio allocation. We deploy capital into professional underwriters who then lend to specific borrower profiles.
Then, the entire portfolio is tranched into junior and senior tranches, similar to a CLO.
A curated lending vault, on the other hand, takes the same capital but positions it from the perspective of a lender. It is lent to (mostly) anonymous borrowers, so the depositor's return is capped at the borrowing rate, diluted by idle liquidity and curator fees, while the borrower keeps the strategy's upside.
The problem is you're basically lending your capital to someone else who is going to run strategies that are inherently riskier than what you're comfortable with because they need to generate more yield than the borrow cost.
As a depositor, you're also going to inherit risks unrelated to any investment view, such as collateral quality, oracle integrity, liquidation mechanics, a curator's ongoing judgment, pro-rata socialization of bad debt across the pool, etc. meanwhile having to deal with capital inefficiency if the pool isn't being fully utilized.
Here, the payouts are tranched but the risk isn't quite tranched the same way.
DeFi lending is beautiful because it's instant and anonymous. The system is extremely safe on highly liquid crypto assets. However, when the curator starts adding bridged-staked-wrapped synthetic RWA assets, the risk profile fundamentally changes.
If your objective is the best risk-adjusted return, I think a simpler allocation structure makes more sense. Happy to be challenged.

1️⃣ What makes you most bullish about @solana today?
The gap between what Solana can do technically and what's actually been built on top of it is still enormous. That's the most exciting place to be as a builder.
2️⃣ Where do you see the biggest hidden opportunities for new builders?
These 5 stablecoin products that don't exist yet (but should):
1. Global private pensions: Legacy retirement systems fail international workers. If builders treat Solana as its own economy, the user base is already large enough to launch a union-style fund.
2. Decentralized insurance & annuities: Huge potential in taking fixed-rate lending further into ultra-long-duration savings products, which are incredibly popular in places like Hong Kong and Taiwan.
3. One-click cross-chain yield funnels: Massive idle capital sits on Tron, BNB, and EVM. Builders need to create a frictionless way to redirect those assets straight into Solana.
4. Direct yield access to EVM DeFi: Solana’s UX is too good to leave, but EVM ecosystems often run crazy, highly incentivized yield farms.
5. Institutional-scale stableswaps: Building platforms capable of instant execution via DEXs for retail, while handling large OTC-sized blocks with built-in delays.
3️⃣ What’s the number one piece of advice you’d give to someone starting from zero?
Pick a real pain point that exists beyond crypto and choose one that is meaningful to you.
