"A lack of male protagonists is making it harder to get young readers into books."
Wow, that's crazy. Buy a copy of Captain Hawke for the young reader in your life!
Young boys are being discouraged from getting into reading—and it’s because more books are missing one key element, @sophiah_n reports: theatlantic.com/culture/2026…
I climbed all the way to the top of a giant mountain to ask @htmx_org for wisdom and he handed me this and said "complexity bad."

The correct usage in medieval Francia would have been "Devious, mendacious Greeks".
The correct usage in English is Roman Empire with a use of ‘east/eastern’ to give context if it’s needed.
‘During the reign of the Roman Emperor Heraclius’
‘The 11th century tension between the east Romans and the Papacy’
‘East Roman religious policy in the 11th century’
‘The Roman Empire in the 7th century’
The context will determine whether you need anything other than Roman. Most of the time it will be obvious what you mean.

“We have no king, we are all kings, and each doth do his pleasure;
They spread their anarchy abroad, and sin beyond all measure.
The crown and miter, trampled down, make way for godly hypocrisy;
The tyrant state subjects us all, and cries ‘democracy!’
’Tis a mad world, my masters, where kings do lose their crowns,
And commoners take coronets, set up and soon put down.”
(My kids watching the Red Baron shoot down Snoopy.)
6yo: "If I had a Soggy [Sopwith] Camel I’d save Snoopy."
Me: "Buddy, you have no flight experience. An ace pilot kills a rookie every time."
6yo: "Oh... That’s why I’m joining the Army."

The European liberal establishment assumes that when the levers of state (the bureaucracy, the media, the courts, etc) in their hands, it is the embodiment of the rule of law and neutrality. But when they are in the hands of anybody else, it is 'politicisation'. Therefore, they believe, using tactics that are more common in authoritarian, tin pot third world countries is entirely justified to restore the previous 'neutrality' (i.e. the political control of the establishment). This is exactly what we saw in the early days of the Tusk regime, and what we have seen in Hungary. It is also what we should expect in Britain if ever a populist party takes the reins of state and dares to staff it with likeminded people, just as the liberal establishment had their people in key positions.
Mal alle beruhigen: Es gibt keinen Staatsstreich in #Polen .
