I've seen many people saying the tiger at Yorkshire Wildlife Park should have been shot when the man entered its enclosure.
I couldn't disagree more.
From the footage I've seen, it looks extremely difficult to even get into that enclosure in the first place.
And from what I've heard, the staff did an incredible job reacting as quickly as they did, while showing restraint and avoiding killing an innocent tiger.
These are apex predators. They are extremely dangerous animals that will naturally attack humans when confronted in their territory.
Hopefully this magnificent animal isn't put down in the aftermath of this tragedy.
The tiger did nothing wrong.

Just read up on whole issue about Nobel winner Navi Pillay providing names of Uyghur dissidents to China & she did it! Knowingly! Only UN defence is it was ‘standard bureaucratic protocol’ to inform China of attendees of human rights events & frankly that’s an absurd defence.

Distinguished Professor Peter Schwerdtfeger is under investigation by Massey University over five articles he co-wrote in 2023 on university funding, decolonisation, and the place of mātauranga Māori in universities.
After a member of the public complained, Massey set up a panel and asked it to consider whether his articles "reflect the values of Massey University."
Academic freedom exists so academics can put forward unorthodox ideas and challenge the dogma of the day. Measuring a professor's writing against the university's own values gets it exactly backwards.
We've written to Massey asking why this complaint was ever sent to a panel.
